I'm actually curious:

I've heard talks in here about the possibility of Leopard in April or May. Since WWDC is in June and it's well known that Jobs will be doing a presentation, is there any real reason why Leopard should be released before June?

We already know WWDC will be a platform for iPhone, isn't this also the right platform for Leopard and any hardware refreshes? Since, also, Santa Rosa will be out by June, allegedly?

I'm pretty much expecting it to be June. But it'll come when it's ready, it's not like we're all going nuts because Tiger is awful!

That is a very good point. Tiger is perfectly fine and more so, I honestly wouldn't mind if there wasn't an upgrade this year, Tiger serves perfectly well.

I don't care, just as long as I get my SR MBP with Leopard ASAP.

And in terms of WWDC being a platform for the iPhone, I disagree. SJ's already spent way too long talking about it, I reckon he'll just get up and say, "Oh yeah, and we're releasing the iPhone today. Now on to more of those Leopard special features, and iLife '08!"

I doubt whether Leopard will be released before June, but I suppose it could be released at say NAB, with new updated Mac Pros. But that's unlikely.

If Apple doesn't release Leopard before WWDC, Jobs won't be able to talk about how quickly Leopard is being adopted by users/developers etc.

Not really, no.

As alluded to above, it's not like Tiger is one step up from OS 8. It's a powerful OS in its own right.

When Tiger was released in April 05, Steve discussed it at WWDC in June, and talked about the growing user-base right from the get-go.

I just want a release date, Spring 07 can be any day until end of June.

The 5th of April is already gone though.

Maybe NAB? Nah. Probably not.

Well, since the Mac Pros are now out (which had been speculated to be released at NAB), what's likely to show up at NAB?

I've been an Apple fan for long enough that the Pavlovian response to covet Leopard has kicked in already. Having said this, when will we find out about those "secret" Leopard features, the ones that might actually give me a good reason to want to upgrade.

Definitely never before it's released. I think these "secret features" will only be unveiled at the time of Leopard's release.

Fat chance at a leak, though.

WWDC? Everything will be revealed at WWDC.

• Leopard
• iLife '07 (maybe '08?)
• iPhone release
• SR MBPs
• SR iMacs
• Maybe SR MBs?
• Maybe new Mac Minis?
• Maybe further upgraded Mac Pros?
• Maybe new iPods?

At which point Steve Jobs dies of a heart attack, and Apple is bought out by Bill Gates.

This is immense overkill. No way Jose.

um, Final Cut Pro?

Also Logic, Shake (as part of Final Cut Studio 2), and Final Cut "Extreme"--whatever that turns out to be.

I can't wait. Tiger is fine for now but not perfect. so I can't wait for Leopard.

Thanks,
ivnj
