There is a lot of misinformation in this thread that needs to be addressed.
1. AT&Ts unlimited isn't just for directv customers. You can also have Uverse TV service and qualify. This is welcome news to the original poster.

2. AT&T doesn't throttle after 22GB, they de-prioritize your data. Your speeds are determined by traffic on the tower you are connected to at any moment. 99.9% of the time you will not notice any difference and if you are connected to a congested tower your speed will not be 128kbps.

If you are a directv customer and are past your cheap introductory offer, you deserve unlimited data!

I have the unlimited data through AT&T that is tied in to our DirecTV (which we already had). It's 22gb per line, which is a heck of a lot more internet than I can get monthly with satellite (our only other option). Obviously I don't stream movies or things of that nature (our data is great for some things, but streams video very slowly), but since I have 22 gb available on my tablet AND on my phone, I'm pretty satisfied. I was paying $120/monthly for satellite internet and limited to 15 gb/month for the household. This seems like a bargain to me.

If your only options for internet are satellite and cellular, chances are you don't live anywhere close to a congested area, in which case you're probably never throttled and can use as much as you want on AT&T at full speed.

Just to back up the experiences of other people using iPads on the DIRECTV unlimited plan.... I too have this plan. Recently got a new iPad Pro and added it to this plan. YOU CAN TETHER WITHOUT LIMITS. However tethering using this plan on my iPhone does not work (as also mentioned) I've tested the throttling theory on both devices. Went well over 22GB on both. iPhone got throttled in certain areas I traveled too while in those same areas my iPad did NOT get throttled at all. It appears to be that the unlimited data for iPad for those with DIRECTV truly is 100% unlimited. I've experienced this, many others have experienced this, it seems to be the case more so than not. I do not care what the At&T website or a representative tells you. You really do get 100% unlimited, unthrottled, with hotspot tethering allowed, on the Unlimited plan with DirecTV.... PERIOD.
