There is a 'Find My' widget for iPad. Well, at least in iPadOS 15.2. Added it in less than 10 seconds.

Edit Home screen > + > Search Widgets: "Find" worked for me

Sorry I forgot to mention this is on my mom’s iPad and it is 14.8.1 and I didn’t want to update to 15 because I didn’t want to confuse my elderly mom

Yes. It’s a Home Screen widget, not a “widget” page widget.

Ipados 15 is pretty non confusing from a basic usability point of view. If all she does is tap apps, and use them, nothing will change.

Other than agreeing with the new EULA, iOS 15 is almost exactly the same as 14.x.x unless you want to use the new features.
