Hi:

I bought a replacement MacBook Pro M1 (2020) from the Amazon Premium Renewed Program in November. The first weird thing I noticed is that the computer will often show the wrong date and time on the locked screen, particularly when booting the Mac and prior to logging in for the first time. The time and date will self-correct once you login, but it will be wrong again when you reboot the computer. I’ve never seen this before, and I’ve had 7-8 Mac’s over the past 10 years.

The other thing I noticed is that the battery completely drains—to the point where the battery status screen does not even come up when attempting to turn it on. With the charger connected, it will eventually flash between the lightning bolt and plug/lightning bolt on the battery status screen, over and over, which is also something I’ve never seen. It wil have to charge for 10 minutes just so the battery status screen reflects it’s being charged (solid lightning bolt symbol).

Finally, I keep getting messages saying that macOS Tahoe needs to be reinstalled when trying to boot for the first time after this battery purge status. Reinstalling macOS from Recovery Mode works, but is time consuming. I realized I can get beyond this by running repair on each of the system volumes using Disk Utility in Recovery Mode. However, it will eventually come up again.

What does this sound like? Motherboard issue?

Thanks in advance.
