All hope shattered by KGI

This makes no economic sence as no one will pay 2012 prices for outdated hardware. The updated iMac will have to be released soon within 1-2 months.

It looks like there will not be the much anticipated iMac update, unless its released on the quiet this Tuesday - having sold my one i7 BTO 27in three weeks ago - it was a great machine - I'm now really exhausted waiting any longer - thank God I've got another BTO iMac to content myself with with new LCD and display cover - I'll just pretend this is the new iMac and dream about its specifications.

So, so disappointed after waiting more than a month for a refresh.

Did you read those two sentences you wrote here, one after the other, before posting them? But regardless, who am I to insult anybody, I just thought you might have been someone I went to school with.

I think the real question is, do you understand the sentances that I have written? I doubt it. Obviously you're at school as that level of wit and intellect can only be attributed to a five year old.

People, API support for resolution independence has been in OS X starting around Tiger. With Lion, you can also use HiDPI display modes to test resolution independence. You can read something about it here: http://tinyurl.com/6unomod

I guess what it means that the app simply included higher-resolution images and than called it 'retina' graphics. The APIs to do this existed in Lion from the launch. Probably these guys try to get some sales from the retina Mac speculations.

Nevertheless, the recent development in OS X API clearly show that Apple is going towards HiDPI displays. I don't think we will see them in the iMac, since there is no affordable 5120 x 2880 panel for the 27" iMac and the QFHD 3840x2160 would probably be a step back (this would result in 'logical' resolution of 1080p which is less then the current display is). But its not that unlikely for Macbook Air.

I know bugger all about what's going on, but I know enough not to read anything in to what you read on the internet prior to the official announcement from Apple .. Don't despair just yet ..

It's almost guaranteed that the iMac will see an update of some sort next week, otherwise every other computer manufacturer is selling new technology when apple is selling last years !!

Just hang on a few more days :D

Five year olds have a lot of great things going for them. Spelling, a good one no doubt, sentences can be confusing. Simple mathematics, I started school in 1981, let me get a five year old to figure out how old I am. How old are you, friend? :)

Don't read to much into the typo. Let's end this pointless bickering as it serves no one :apple:

*hands lannisters4life a olive branch*

Haha, yes, typos. Carry on.

I handed you the olive branch and you threw it back into my face. If you must know I am still trying to get used to my mobile keyboard. Keep going to school my five year old friend.

Forty2j you're turning into a troll.

Oops. Didn't realize movie quotes from 2001 were trolling.

Just bored at work. Carry on. :p

Anyway I have had enough, no doubt you or one of your chums will try and fail to insult me again, I can't be asked anymore with this thread.

Yep exactly. This is just a person trying to get more sales from the inclusion of the word "retina"
