i had to take my iPad 2 back for very bad light bleeding and the "Genius" was a bit of a douche.

You could clearly see it and he acted like there was no problem so he went and got the store manager who eventually replaced it but said it was a one time only deal and that it was not their problem anymore so yeah they can be complete dicks sometimes.

Applejuiced is putting words in the OP's mouth. The OP never said that nobody saw or cared that his phone got slammed. Some people might have been disgusted but didn't say anything. I don't think I would say or do anything if I saw that happen, not my place. I'd find it quite insulting if someone stepped in to help me; I can fight my own battles!

Personally I would have slammed him if he did that to me but people know what they can do and get away with.
Like I said there is cameras everywhere. That's grounds for termination with actions like that. All one would need to do is speak with a manager.
But no, he instead left and complains to a bunch of strangers online that can do nothing about it. Still doesn't make sense to me.

these apple 'geniuses' are increasingly becoming more moronic by the day, i don't know what's going on w/ apple's hiring policies but it's pretty sad and really obvious

If they're not willing to pay for good talent they're not going to get it. Certainly at just over minimum wage we shouldn't be expecting much. To the OP, give the 1800 number a try and speak calmly about what happened to you. It would be better if you had his name and manager, but you should still be fine regardless.

Either go back and speak to a manager or call Apple directly.

The Genius needs to do his job better. It makes me so ANGRY to read posts like these because I have been trying on and off to get hired by Apple for the last two years only to be denied.

They (Apple) claims that it is easier to get into Harvard than to get a job at Apple, implying that they are very selective, and yet the employees I hear about on this board shouldn't have customer service jobs at all let alone a job at Apple.

Maybe a few months on unemployment would give these people some perspective...

Purely from observation apple practices age discrimination. They think these young nobodies embody the apple spirit. In my experience they are misinformed and inexperienced workers.

Yeah I keep forgetting about some stores being relatively large sometimes. All the stores I've been to have been single floor plan like this:

And even when they are packed full, you could still hear something like that.

Every Apple Store I've been to has the same floor plan, but it's always so loud that you can barely hear the person next to you even if they're yelling.

The acoustics are horrible in Apple stores. I know folks to want to take classes, but only when the store opens. Beyond 10 AM it becomes a cacophony. Like the Apple product line, the store looks cool at the expense of practicality.

Has never been my experience at a Genius Bar. They are usually extremely nice and always help you out as much as they can.

I have a similar story. I went in and spoke to a genius because my iPhone 5 had Siri and I didn't want Siri. The genius then took my phone and threw it right through the front glass window! No one saw or heard anything! I then asked to speak to the manager but I was told he was busy so I took the bus home. What should I do?

It doesn't make sense to you that he came to a Mac forum to share about an unpleasant experience he had at an Apple store?

To back up part of the OP's story, the "Genius" that was serving me when I brought in my brand new iPhone 5 for cosmetic damage replacement also said something similar about all iPhones having some minor blemishes when the first replacement she got me had a couple of scuff marks. I refused and thankfully, the second one she opened was scuff free. She wasn't very keen to have to re enter the details for a replacement a second time. This happened in Australia. Some of the employees are just plain lazy.

I call bs on this 1st post newbies story.
Sure, he slammed your phone infront of everyone inside a busy Apple store near the iphone 5 launch.
And nobody else saw him so he can get in trouble or there is no cameras:rolleyes:

Same I call BS. Slamming a phone? Don't think so.

I got my phone replaced today at a store. The first one he took out had a dent on the port and the Genius agreed and hurried off to get me another one. He then told me to look over this one very carefully. I even offered to have him take a look at it, but he said to me that I should do it since we all have different tolerances to what "perfect" is. Very nice person.

A few bad experience with the "genius" doesn't make them all horrible.

Sure, he is wrong. Even if he was frustrated, customers shouldn't be treated that way.

You may be nice and polite about it, but from his POV, he must have seen it all. Everyday, people come into the store demanding a replacement even for a tiny little scuff. Sure, it's apple's fault for making a less than perfect product, but it's not as if it's the guy's fault that you received a faulty one (but since he slammed your phone, then yes, it's his fault).

As someone who once worked in retail, sometimes it's really frustrating.

That, or he is just an ******.

Some people don't like confrontation. You never met a shy person before?

Stop second guessing, it's not really that hard to believe.

Honestly, I give absolutely ZERO credence to negative posts by brand new forum members. No offense.

Too many Android forums laughing about spamming Apple forums with made up stories. Too lazy to Google them right now but people can check.
Well, from someone who's been hanging around on these forums for a longer period of time... Apple's customer care is really terrible (or well, at least it is here in the Netherlands).

I'd raise hell with that store and employee. That's completely unsatisfactory.

I've had a genius be rude to me and even go so far as to lie and tell me I was banned from buying anymore iPads at any Apple store in Canada.

Manager wouldn't respond to my emails or phone calls, and I escalated the case to a senior rep. who took 2 weeks of trying to figure out what happened only to find out nothing, so I just let it go.

Now I go into an Apple store looking to cause trouble with any genius I find not doing his job, or treating customers poorly. I make a scene, and I make it known to people about the real policies, when the genius tries giving them the bums rush.

Kind of feels good to be a vigilante ;)

An apple store employee is put at the brunt of every screw up corporate makes. Cut them some slack. They don't make a ton of money and they are asked to solve the problems created by the six figure pencil pushers.

I didn't mention in my initial post, but the first thing I did after he denied that it was any of his fault was ask to speak with the manager. And I was told, he's busy and not available.

But excellent advice of escalating the issue with the help of CCTV recordings. There is no way he can escape that. Guess I'm going back tomorrow and doing this. Will keep you guys updated as to what happens.

Thanks for your suggestions.
I WOULD GO BACK AND DEMAND TO SPEAK TO A MANAGER.

You should get a life.

I have had bad CS from the "geniuses" and good. It has mostly been good. Luckily, I have 4 Apple stores within reasonable distance and just change stores when I experience bad CS.

It's not like I make it my lifes purpose to do this, I only visit an Apple store when one of my products is faulty, which is maybe once a year.

So, I do actually in fact, have a life.

I don't like being **** on, and I don't like to see others being **** on, so why not give it back when deserved?
