Perhaps they could have taken a photo of this girl to show that it isn't her:confused:

Besides dynamicv's valid point, this is breaking news, and as such details are light on the ground. But you can rely on the British Press to do a stand up job

The media have been all over this story because the parents have had a carefully-planned and professional PR campaign run for them by various well-connected people, people connected with government, with briefings and leaks all over the place. So let's not blame the media; they report what they've been given.
ok sure but sometimes it is easier to shoot the messenger.

That child looks a good year younger than Madeleine's four years of age. Are we going to have to go through this whenever someone on holiday spots a blond girl within 50 miles of the Mediterranean?

Unfortunately I think the answer is 'Yes'

As a parent would you repeatedly leave your children in an unlocked apartment whilst you partied over a hundred yards away in a restaurant completely out of sight?

I would never have done this.

Perhaps they could have taken a photo of this girl to show that it isn't her:confused:

Here you go...

I think the mother gave the child an overdose of something or other to make her sleep well and when she went to check up, the child was dead so she drove off and buried her somewhere came back and said she was missing.

Proof:

a) The twins weren't harmed

b) Blood in the car

c) The parents and all their friends were drunk on the night of the disappearance. (12 bottles for 4 people, I think?)

A few nights ago I narrowly escaped being lynched by a group of "friends" after suggesting there just might be another explanation apart from abduction… Boy! Did that teach me about freedom of speech… :(

For the parents, perhaps. As is appropriate.

For many of us in the UK, we're fed up with the story.

Hear hear.

I originally thought it was a sad situation, but going off how careless the parents have been then it's no wonder something like this has happened. It's bad yes. But could have been so easily avoided if they took care of their children. You'd expect more from doctors.

I can't imagine a happy ending for all this now. The new Diana.

... and then to divert attention, launch an extremely high profile media campaign where their every move will be scrutinised over and over.

b) Blood in the car
The car in question was hired by the McCanns a couple of weeks after their daughter disappeared – this suggests one of three explanations...

  1. The test results were inaccurate.
  2. Cross contamination has occurred – the DNA that was found in the boot came from some of Madeleine's belongings, such as clothes or bedding.
  3. One or both of her parents killed her (be it accidental or otherwise), hid the body for several weeks in an unfamiliar environment, before sneaking the decomposing body away to dispose of it – all this under the noses of the police and the world's media.

Two of those explanations sound plausible to me, one sounds incredibly unlikely. I'll leave it to you to guess which one I'm doubtful about. ;)

The truth is that none of us have anything beyond pure speculation as to what happened to this girl. Her parents may have been involved to some degree, they equally may guilty of nothing more than making a very, very poor decision – the fact is that we the public have no way of knowing at the present time.

Amen. And not only their nightmare - the little girl's, too, if she's still alive. They are terrified and no doubt wracked by guilt for leaving her alone. I can't imagine living with myself if my child disappeared when I had left him unattended. And God only knows what the child is going through.

I hope to God that picture turns out to be her, and that she's found safe, soon.

Thank goodness some people are still capable of retaining some sensitivity. I'm not sick of the story half as much as I am sick of hearing people whine about how the parents are to blame.

OMG. Thats all I can say to this really. I don't know why you'd expect more from a Doctor either. Everyone is fallible, regardless of career choice.
