The '07 2.4GHz is actually faster in some tasks than the new '08 Penryn 2.4GHz due to more L2 cache .

I still use my 2.2GHz Santa Rosa and I will use it for atleast one more generation I guess, since I really can't feel the difference between mine and the new ones.

oh that explains a lot.... but still, im skeptical as to why would a computer company put a processor that may be backward than its predecessor in some cases...

but thanks for sharing the info, that def. helped me set my mind.

2.4GHz was the highend 2007, it's now lowend MBP and the highend now is 2.6GHz
