I had a hard job getting a photo of those dots but they appear on both my Mac Pro's screens and my MBP. The photo is from one of my MP's screens with the resolution set very low

With Preview I can see those white dots on the bottom left and right when viewing an all black image fullscreen in Preview. If I use quick look (press space with the image selected in Finder) fullscreen I can't see them, nor if I just set the image as the desktop background.
Dark Dragon you are the man thank you so much as well as those who pointed it out. I just held space while opening the jpg in finder - it opened in its own window slid it to each corner here in the pitch black dark lo and behold its perfectly fine all black.:D

I was seriously thinking of heading straight to the apple store tomorrow morning to sort this upfront you guys are awesome. So happy no light bleed, no scuffs, no yellowing and no dead pixels. I can finally enjoy my Mac :p:apple:

Glad to hear. Mine was part of the same batch so hopefully I'll have similar results when I get it tomorrow morning!

It is normal, have it on my 2011 iMac, it's just preview in fullscreen.

I think we have just seen the single greatest "save" in MacRumors history!!!

Well Done Dark Dragon!!!

Yes, nothing in the middle only the bottom corners and they look identical to each other so you guys might be onto something

STOP. Don't take it back. Contact Apple technical support, they will be the first point of contact. Once they have 'verified' you have a faulty unit ask to speak to 'Customer relations' They should do this anyway but that's the drill.

Once through to Customer relations explain you need a machine to work on and can't really afford the downtime. They can and should offer something called an 'advanced replacement'. What happens is that the new unit is shipped to you and they then arrange with a courier for the collection of the faulty unit within 14 days after delivery of the new one.

It's all free of charge and is what makes the customer experience so great.

If they are unable to provide a new unit in the time you want (It could be a few weeks given shipping times) then your local Apple store should allow you to keep the old unit and give you a call when the new one is in stock. TBH the best solution all round is the advanced replacement option. If you don't ask you sometimes don't get.

Lol EDIT: Have just seen it's resolved, enjoy your machine. This might be of use to you in the future.

oh man.. i gotta lay off this message board.. it just makes me feel more and more neurotic while i wait for my imac to come.. glad this worked out though

i concur. it's just empty pixels. not dead pixels when viewing image in fullscreen mode with preview. you can try to fill in the empty pixels (using an image program), btw, and i bet it'd be gone.

Yes, indeed. I am still so happy about this. I was dreading having to go through the return process.
