Is this normal?

Recently purchased some AirPods and love them! the only thing I'm slightly worried is the battery, is it normal for battery on the pods to go from 100% to 80% in 45 minutes usage which consisted of a quick 10 minute call and 35 minute podcast listening .. just want some benchmarks to compare to to make sure I don't need to exchange!

The Airpods on their own last about 5 hours of use, or about 20% per hour although that won't be exact.
Your battery drain sounds about normal.

Add: talk time is higher usage vs. listen. Per Airpods Apple Store page:

AirPods (single charge): Up to 5 hours listening time,(2) up to 2 hours talk time(5)

So, yeah, usage vs battery drain appear to be spot-on for normal use.
