Wait I could get it for $325? Sorry, I don't really understand.

No I was saying that the new (last year) terms state that an ETF is $325 minus $5 for every month you've had active service. So your ETF may not be as cheap as you think. Did you upgrade to iPhone 4?

I'm sorry but I'm really not understanding this. EFT?

ETF = Early Termination Fee.

Depending on when you signed your contract, your fee for canceling your contract before the 2 years may be either $175 or $325 (I forgot when the new, higher fee went into affect).

Ohh okay. Well now that I've learned canceling your contract means losing your number, there's no way I'll be doing that.

No you can still "cancel". What you do is open your new service/account before you close AT&T's. When Verizon extracts your number it will automatically close you're AT&T account and they (AT&T) will bill you accordingly (ETF, last month of service, etc.)

I'm with Verizon.

like i said, you could port to a go phone (you can find them cheap at walmart for like $20) wait a month, then port back to verizon when you re-open the account to get the iphone. This way you keep your number while closing the old account.

I'm on a family plan :confused:

Another option is to add a second line, get the iphone at $199 or whatever, have them swap the numbers on the two phones, then cancel your old line while still having your old number on your NEW phone.

How do I know this? I went to a Verizon store today and they told me they could do that.

He wouldn't be canceling the old line this way, he would be canceling the new one and so the ETF would be $350.

You can port one number out of a family plan and the remaining numbers will stay in contract. if your porting out the main line, another one of the lines will have to take its place. If its only two lines in the family plan, the remaining line will be converted into a single line plan.

I'm not gonna lie, this is pretty confusing to me XP

Don't two separate lines have separate contracts? If that were true you could still cancel the older of the two plans regardless of number and still pay a lesser ETF.
