Very nice article, and I wouldn't doubt if that is the type of screen in the next iPad.

The only thing that surprised me in the article was "10% brighter", I can't imagine a brighter screen on my iPad, it's already blinding at 100%. I guess if you live by the ocean you can use it as a light signal, to talk to ships or something. :)

Ignore my previous comments. The second set of pictures makes it apparent that the Super PLS does appear to have better viewing angles.

Might make a difference in outdoor (or indirect outdoor) light.

I suspect "brighter" is not the proper word here — judging by the images, I think they really mean to say higher contrast with better saturation.

I just wish they would go LED backlit.

So, it will be higher in contrast, too? Give us more ways to reduce brightness and thus allow the battery to last longer.

Hmmmm.... using a new technology on a product that will need to be mass produced. Sounds like trouble to me. I read nothing of sunlight performance, that is where improvement is really needed, not viewing angles.

I don't care what it has
I'm buying it.

We need a release date!!!!!

Samsung had too many damn troubles with supplying other companies with AMOLED. So, is apple stupid enough to go for PLS that can be only manufactured by samsung? Until samsung can somehow guarantee apple that they will supply the panels with mass numbers, apple won't ink the deal.

Surely it's too late to change the screen? I would have thought they have the iPad 2 pretty much made how they want.

I highly doubt it. They aren't going to use this technology because of the Samsung patents and aren't likely to use it now as it would probably drive up cost.

Brighter and cheaper sounds good, but I wonder about power consumption. The viewing angle on the current iPad is good, I wonder how much better this display can get.

Exactly... Though I don't like the selling point of things like yhe kindle with anti glare... Ideally (for now) retina display (though I'm starting to think that may never happen) and anti glare. Regardlesd I am convinced it will be again best in its class of products, just like all the top AAPL products. :D

Ps. Buy AAPL on ANY weakness... It is going to $450.00 per share by December... :p
