The problem is I have an Iphone4 and an IPad.
they have gotten horrible as I have to reboot at least once a day and they hang and lag badly. Considering this is a larger investment than other options and much worse long term support.
As you can see in my sig I certainly enjoy the competing hardware and software to Apple's ecosystem, but I am baffled by this statement. WORSE long term support? I would say Apple has by far the BEST long term support. Take any four generation old device from any of the competitors. How is it holding up? What is the maker of said device doing for you about that?
And the what appears to be purposeful sabotage of the older systems with non supporting new software.
To some degree we have seen Apple withold features. I agree about that. Siri was a big one, specifically for you, but aside from that, I don't really see many software features that have been witheld. I think they have gotten BETTER at not witholding, and instead adding hardware features.
I am now forced to look at a new system when what I have was good and should have been perfectly fine.
It's four years old. Again, you would be in this exact same boat with whatever you decide to replace them with. If that's Android, if that's Windows Phone or Blackberry, four years from now you will be on that forum saying the same things. Hell, maybe sooner.
So why should I purchase a IPhone 6 if I know the support it lacking and rude and the features like speakers and mike are 2-3 years behind all the others.
So who was rude? Someone at the store? Over the phone? Was this multiple times? Understand that people working at Apple are human, they too can have bad days, be sick of whiny customers, and be short with you. I am not saying this is an axcuse, but the fact that someone at Apple was rude to you shouldn't equate to "Apple is rude". No company, in their standard training, teaches their employees to be rude (Except ISP's like Comcast, they train their workers to make you cry). Now, if you've had multiple cases where employees have been rude, Perhaps you are right. But I would still step back and take a look at what you are asking of them. If you are taking your four year old phone to the genius bar asking for free repairs/replacement/support, well, you get where I am going with this...
(when my family calls each other on their Iphone 5s it is almost impossible to understand them as their mics are muddled and when I listen on their I5s it is worse as the speaker probably cost a nickle.
I am not sure I really follow. The mic is three years behind current tech? Is this an actual statistic or did you just pull a number out of a hat in frustration. I am certainly not going to tell you you are wrong about the sound quality you are exeriencing, but I have never been in a situation where I could "barely understand" what people were saying. Consider the fact that you are talking on an iPhone 4. My mothers 4S, before she upgraded, sounded a lot quieter (earpiece) than my 5S. Cleaning the slot out with pressurized air seemed to help, but not completely alleviate the problem. I don't have anything to compare it to with competing hardwares since I never keep them long enough (family tends to get hand me downs and they always want my Apple hardware), but I would venture to guess that aging hardware will have depleted performance across the board.
