It's interesting how the people here discuss how much more organic food costs over "regular" food.

There's a purely organic grocery place around here that has awesome "by-the-pound" stuff, I go there for their chocolate-covered almonds which are amazing, and their wide selection of coffees, teas, herbs and the such.

But they *are* expensive, so I only go maybe 6 times a year or so.

But at Trader Joe's, which is my main place of food shopping, I *saved* a lot of money shopping there over Safeway which I used to shop at (and still do on occasion, for stuff you can't find in Trader Joe's, branded food stuff (Breyers ice cream for the win))

Sure, to save a lot of money at Safeway you gotta look at the newspapers and cut out coupons and whatnot, but honestly I couldn't be bothered.

Not even close, mine would be about 0.5%. I do like buying organic bananas if they are nice and green :D they taste really good. I do buy organic honey too

i'd say most organic stuff cost about the same or slightly more expensive than non-organic food. however, some things like organic eggs are more than three times the price of regular eggs.

Yeah, I don't taste any difference between organic and regular eggs, so I get regular.

The only time I go organic is if I plan to make eggs benedict.

I'd say my diet would be around 60% organic. My diet includes organic muesli, milk (lactose-free), some fruits and vegetables, eggs (sometimes), and muesli bars. I choose organic for those types of foods because they either taste better IMO or they 'agree' better with my body. :)

Very little.

I pay more attention to the nutrition facts and ingredients list, rather than where the ingredients came from.

Honestly, I've yet to find convincing evidence to demonstrate that organic food is worth the extra price, although I've heard plenty of incorrect info babbled from the crowds pushing organics, which does little to increase my faith in the entire industry. ...In other words, I'm very skeptical.

My diet is not entirely organic. I put salt on things. Everything else is composed of carbon compounds as far as I know.

Same here. And in the case of the stuff I mentioned earlier (soy milk, nutrition bars, cereal, etc.), I don't buy them because they are organic. I buy them because I like them and they just happen to be organic.
