This seems like an issue with At&t in your area.

I am on verizon and on the rare occasion that I don't have 4g LTE service I only bounce down to 3G.

Which is part of the reason I left At&t.

Isn't that when you are on a call?

wow....glad I left At&t. Got sick of there crabby service.

Yes it happens during a call but it also happens randomly when I have poor signal.

AT&T for me and I am documenting all of the areas where my service is worse with the 5 than with my 4S (which my wife is now using). It is noticeably worse 80% of the places I go. There are times when she is on 4G and I am on Edge or No Service. This is a concern for me, and after documenting, I will be contacting apple and AT&T.

at&t in NYC here.

If anything, the service has been better for me than my 4S. Not a dropped call yet. The calls come in nice and clear as well.

I'm on verizon and my service is MUCH better. But I also got off the throttled "unlimited" plan. Even 3G is fast now (like it was on my previous droid)

Apparently, AT&T saw something in their switch that, according to the rep, was causing the crappy service. They say they 'fixed' the issue, but I won't know until I go to work tomorrow to see if it really made a difference. I am getting a replacement phone tomorrow for a home button issue anyway, so maybe that one will work better.

Mine is noticeably worse. Lots more cutting out and dropped calls. One of the other numerous reasons I am returning it when my 4S comes in the mail. Should have never upgraded to this thing.
