Now you guys have me intrigued... I'm going to have to stop by the local Apple Store and have a look. If the improvement is as drastic as you guys claim, I'll try to find the video board and jury rig it to work with my Mac Pro.

I would post a pic from my 27" I3, however I am too scared that the camera lens would shatter upon seeing my ugly mug. :)

its apparently 640x480

I believe that Photo Booth artificially limits the camera to 640x480. Try using iMovie; I don't have it installed at the moment but I'm fairly confident that I get 1280x1024 out of my 2006 MBP iSight when using iMovie.

No one said you have to be in the picture. :)

BTW, maybe the increase in quality come from HD hardware that was software limited to 640x480. Did anyone try the new FaceTime HD on an iMac? Does the camera show up as 720p or VGA?

I have a 2008 24" iMac and my dad bought a new 21.5" iMac and there is definitely a difference. Motivated me to beat him, so i bought the Logitech 1080P camera. Beat him by a significant amount now. :)
