hi there,

do you use a screen protector under the iskin fuze? does it scratch at all?

i am debating between this iskin fuze and the vaja black and red limited edition.

thanks,

replacement fuze

Hey guys... I was wondering if everyone has received the same email I have offering a replacement. The email says iskin will send us a brand new fuze with free "iskin gear" once they receive your old fuze. I was wondering your thoughts on this. I only have a few concerns.. shipping costs, how long will the trade take, and leaving my iphone case-less. Is anyone taking this offer up? thoughts?

iSkin Fuze

Hi guys,

I was so excited about getting the Fuze but luckily I read these posts here and now I'm not so eager for it anymore...

Should I just be patient? Or consider something else?

Thx...

I never heard from Kristian in response to my emails to him... So I requested an RMA through the iSkin website customer service. They just sent me the return information, but nothing about "iSkin gear" etc... I plan to return rather than exchange mine as the design seems problematic for my use.

Guess it's a mixed bag for people.

I have contacted iSkin twice and emailed Kristian and I have had no contact from anyone about a return or any gear. I think I am going to have my credit card company stop payment. It has been since last week and not one response.

Mine came from this address: annissa@iskin.com Hope that helps.

It's disappointing to hear that others have not been receiving communications either. Despite the postings and reassurances from Kristian and others in this thread... it only counts if they actually follow through.

I'll have to try that email address tomorrow.

I replied back to Iris letting them know while I appreciate what iskin appears to be doing to address issues, I am asking for a refund due to my particular problems being what I consider "design" vice "defects".

1. Being unable to access the silent switch
2. Having trouble consistently accessing anything that requires touching the cornera of the screen.

This case has given me a "complex" about my fingers being huge, which up until the purchase of this case, I did not have :)

I will continue to purchase iskin products and will consider the next version of the Fuze for my iphone. You cannot always hit a home run with the first at bat but I think they are close to having a great case. In my partcular case it will not work for me. I need unhindered access to all capabilities and functions that the iphone provides.

I just want to also mention that I have not received any emails back from Kristian. I have emailed him a couple of times now and asked when he would like to meet up to discuss the Fuze3G issues and I have gotten no response.

Since iSkin is local, I will try giving them a call directly tomorrow morning and see if I can get in touch with someone regarding this and perhaps visit their office.

Hey There,

Darius - I simply have been swamped at the office. We currently in the XMAS season rush and everyone at iSkin is just very busy. I do want to have you into the office so that you and I can sit down and go over your ideas and feedback but I'm just asking for a little patience and if you need to get a hold of me please email me directly and I will do my best to get back to you ASAP. Everyone who knows me or who has emailed me in the past knows I'm pretty good with email responses.

I will be in contact once I return form some business trips I have out of the country - and we will hook up.

Thank you

K

Which case should I get?

I'm planning on treating myself to an iPhone for my birthday, but now I'm at a loss as to which case I should purchase. Until reading this thread, I was considering either the Fuze or the latest Evo edition, but now I don't know.

Have the issues with the Fuze been resolved with models currently being distributed? Also, I notice that the Fuze is slightly more expensive than the Evo II (I think is the edition), is one of these cases better than the other? I read the details, but having not seen either of them in person I'm not sure which is better. I'm interested in all around protection, screen protection, ease of operation/stream lined design; pretty much the things with which you guys seem to be concerend. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Danke vielmals,

Julian

PS Aside from the concerns voiced in this thread, one of the things that concerns me about the Fuze is the apparent lack of screen protection. Why didn't they make a hard-cover case with a hard screen protector? Or is the anti-scratch film an effective protection? Thanks again and sorry for all the questions!

In addition to all of the issues posted so far (improper fit, buttons that you gamma-radiation-induced-strength to push) I also found another issue.

When I press the home button, my iPhone's screen distorts. It kind of looks like when you push an LCD screen with your finger.

Update - Replacement Fuze 3G

Hey everybody, sorry it's taken me so long to post an update, but things get a little hectic this time of year ;-)

I received my replacement Fuze 3g (Argent), and while it's not perfect, I can say that the majority of quality issues with the first case are not present with this one. Namely:

  • The front metal facia is now firmly attached to the front of the case
  • The hash marks on the bottom of the case are no longer clearly visible. If you look really hard you can see that they still exist from the molding process, but they have attempted to paint over to present a smooth surface.
  • The ringer switch is much easier to access. They may have cut out more after the molding process, I have to take a closer look to be sure. It's not perfect, but can get my fingertip on it now with out having to apply force.

The edges around the screen are still deeper than I prefer, but this case seems to sit closer to the glass than the first one. Of course the integrated touch screen is still useless IMO - I used it for one day and continued to find dead spots, which seemed to change throughout the day. Again I suspect this may be due to the fact that there is no adhesive to provide uniform application over glass surface, which can cause certain points to lift from the glass due to pressure, heat, etc. Not a big deal since this can easily be substituted with iSkin's film or any other for that matter. While not perfect I can live with the remainder of the case's limitations.

I'll post more pics as soon as I can, not likely this week but maybe over the weekend.

I do want to thank both Kristian and Iris for providing excellent customer service throughout this process. That alone will always put iSkin at the top of my list when considering any future case needs for any of my Apple products. Kudos to both of you!

Regards,

Stephen

I too have this problem. I found if you press the button with the tip of yoru finger it seems to solve this issue. My major concern with this is that the distortion is caused by pressing too hard to get the button to register. I am really hoping this case will not cause a cracked screen from too hard of a button press due to the case being too stiff.

I have a similar issue although I am not sure it is the same thing. When I touch the screen it leaves marks all over the place. It's lmost like the ptoective screen is not touching the surface of the iPhone and when I press on the screen, it is sticking to the iPhone and staying there. This is leaving weird looking marks all over my screen. Otherwise I find the case rather nice, aside from having to press the home button very hard. Maybe I should remove the protective screen and just put a film back on it...

Oily look on screen

I got my onyx (black) 3g fuze case in yesterday....and i guess it is okay, at best? That may be giving it the benefit of the doubt. No big issues on fitment, no big issues on manufacture process defects. Although i did notice it started getting scuffed after putting it in the revoclip only 3-4 times. What a bummer. Against my better judgment after reading this post...i dove in and bought one.

Any idea why these are only being sold by ISKIN directly?? Hmmmm?

Well, the main problem is the obvious oily appearance on screen after the case is on. I followed all directions, exactly, cleaning the screen and all. No go...still oily look. Then tried wiping with only a soft lint-free dry cloth...no go...still oily. THen tried a cotton ball, with tab of alcohol....almost...no go, still oily look.

Does anyone have a solution for this. From my guess, it appears that the reasons for the oily look are that the ISKIN screen cover is not in intimate contact with the iphone display.

Now i am debating...rip opp the FUZE display screen and put on another shield.....or return it !!!

Any thoughts, advice or experiences are appreciated.

Heh... I've had mine for a few months now... the screen protector fell off, and the back rubber coating is wearing off. The metal front plate is also falling off due to failing adhesives.

Since I've had it for a few months, I doubt iskin will help me out, but I would not reccomend this case at all at this point. Go elsewhere.

Iskin Fuze

Just received my Iskin fuze. It arrived in a factory sealed box with all of the protective clear tape attached. When I removed it I noticed the screen protector has scratches. I purchased it from a auth. reseller. I contacted them and they suggested I contact Iskin. When I contacted Iskin they won't do anything without a Iskin purchase order. overall build quality is good on this one but I can't figure out how the lens was scratched.

Customer service sucks. be careful!

just receive my Fuze today and a little disappointed, i had read all the warnings in the thread but i hoped since it had been a few months that they would of fixed some problems. my iphone does not actually arrive until tomorrow so i cant really comment on the fit but this gap has me worried.

and i also have the problem with the adhesive of the plastic coming off. i think i could just glue it and it will be fine.
