What evidence? A picture of a macbook mini motherboard and what else?

SKUs from 9to5. We would not have those if there was not an incoming refresh. You made up a nonsensical date, based on nothing, and have offered no proof and no explanation. Then you jump on anybody that says otherwise. We have far more proof of a refresh this month than your made up date. Just read the front page from the last two weeks. The onus is on you to provide proof why you think all of that information is incorrect, despite being from reliable sources. The motherboard picture is irrelevant; there are far more rumours on this topic and if you're too lazy to just read the front page, then perhaps you should not participate in the discussion?

Link to skus please. There will be no dvd because Apple is moving to apps only. It makes the iMac cheaper to manufacture andthinner. March.

What about the SKUs? Or the fact that you actually can't get 2/4 models of the 2011 iMac in any retailer, nor n any apple store in the US anymore? How about every siite (9to5, apple insider , macrumors) agreeing that it will come Tuesday?

You do realise that if it launched in march it would still have the same CPU and GPU.

Might be wishful thinking at this point.

Let's keep things rational and in perspective here.

Truth is... there hasn't been many leaks about the new iMac. We've got one blurry picture, the Geekbench scores, the parts listing and a couple analysts predictions. (Edit: And the whole Out of Stock argument.)

I HOPE there is a new iMac this week but if there is a new model... especially if it's been redesigned... props to Apple for the secrecy. It's been a LONG haul for most of the folks around these parts.

Mac Rumors has been a journey for me.
I have never learned a more thoroughly painful lesson on patience and the virtues of skepticism.

What are the chances we don't have leaks because the rumors aren't true - we aren't getting a new iMac. Is this a possibility - I hope not.

It is of course a possibility - one nobody around here likes to talk about. In fact, you can get into some trouble even bringing it up.

Consider this: so called "leaks" are bits of information on the Internet that have no proof to go with them. How is one to know which or even if any of them are truly valid? How can one prove they are even real leaks of real info until an actual Mac model to prove them goes on sale?

If nothing else, the lengthening amount of time since the last refresh would be one indicator that we must be moving closer to another refresh. I have long found it difficult to take stock in much else.

All that said and for the record, I hope they ship for you guys soon so the angst can end and you all can enjoy some new toys. I'm not all bad. I just try to be realistic and honest with my views.

While I agree that Tuesday is more likely than March. I don't think the inventory rumors are accurate. The 4 stores in my region are fully stocked on all iMac models. I called around yesterday for a friend who needs 5 x 27" and 3 x 21.5" for a satellite campaign office.

Checkout the NYC area 10001. Also BTO are now 2-3 weeks everywhere. If not accurate, pretty darn close.

It burns down to two things: consumer interest and accessory makers.

It probably really boils ("burns?") down to a different manufacturer than Foxconn making the units, and they've got better security.

iMac isn't that popular. It's just how it is.

Not really, unless you have a funny definition of "popular." Even with Apple's comparative neglect of the iMac and failure to advertise it iMacs sold well. Apple's last quarterly filing with the SEC said:

http://investor.apple.com/secfiling.cfm?filingID=1193125-12-182321&CIK=320193

"Mac desktop system unit sales increased 190,000 or 19%
during the second quarter of 2012 and increased 442,000 or
20% during the first six months of 2012, due primarily to
strong demand for iMac"

Wrong. Appleinsider started talking about retina MBPs in September 2011, and there were quite a number of rumors about it in subsequent months.

No you are wrong because as the thread suggested there hasn't been any leaks of actual design of the new iMac, the same thing happened with MBPr... we only saw the design at the event...get a clue.

the same thing has been happening with the iMac...whats your point? Did we see any PICS of the MBPr retina design before the event? NO

Uh, the point is I replied to WHAT YOU WROTE ("There wasn't much of leaks for the MBPr right?") not anything about pics. Leaks aren't the same as pics, if you didn't know. ;)

I hope this is NOT true, if it is OR the new IMac is crippled, I have the parts to build a great PC in the New Egg Basket just waiting to push the button BUT
please Apple do not disappoint, I don't want to go back to the darkside :D :

Never. Again.

EVER.

Looks good man, what monitor are you going for if you take that option?

All the evidence says the Imac will come in March and not sooner.

He is just one of those people who got a PC(evidence: https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=15801761#post15801761 ) after the lack of iMac this summer. Now he just does not want to believe that there are real rumors building up that point to a release next week. Sorry bro, but whatever you came up with in your mind, nobody here has ever heard of something that points to a release in march.

Never. Again. EVER.

+1 Completely agree. My time is worth too much to spend researching then cobbling together parts and then being my own repairman. And Apple's customer service is too good to sidestep. The extra cost for a Mac is money well spent in the long run.

It's a very real possibility we don't see iMacs on the 23rd and they are released later alongside Mac Pros.

Never again go back to Windows or never again build your own computer with a site like new egg?

Never another build-your-own. Twice was too many.

It doesn't appear likely I'll ever voluntarily use Windows (I'm forced to for work and for family tech support) either. But I can't automatically rule out the possibility that Windows 2027 is actually good and Apple is failing badly by then.

No it isn't at all. Last June MacRumors reported (as was confirmed by Apple): "A MacRumors reader writes in to share an email he received from Apple CEO Tim Cook after he asked about the future of the Mac Pro: "Our pro customers are really important to us...don't worry as we're working on something really great for later next year.""

News reports mistakenly lumped in the iMac with the Mac Pro ... and Apple PR reps contacted David Pogue of the NYTimes and Forbes.com to correct them and say that Cook was ONLY talking about an update to the Mac Pro in 2013 and not the iMac:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/connieguglielmo/2012/06/12/apple-says-new-models-designs-for-imac-mac-pro-in-works-due-in-2013/

Therefore, iMacs will be updated this year, not next year. And to come out with new hardware in time for Xmas season (and concommitant marketing) they need to be released SOON. Which it seems they shall.

:D

And there's no way they're going to be EOLed, since they're still popular even though Apple doesn't advertise them and upgrades to them have been neglected. In Apple's latest required quarterly filing to the SEC they noted, "Mac desktop system unit sales increased 190,000 or 19% during the second quarter of 2012 and increased 442,000 or 20% during the first six months of 2012, due primarily to strong demand for iMac"

iMac users care about performance to the exclusion of size and appearance because performance is most important to us and size and appearance are mostly irrelevant as long as the display is either 21 or preferably 27".

I really don't think that's the case. There's a reason they end up in museums and are featured left and right in films. Some people appreciate using something they don't feel compelled to hide in a back room or basement.

I am suspecting there may be 2 iMac updates in the works.

Perhaps the original update has hit a technological snag which requires going back to engineering to solve and there will be significant retooling because of that. That would quite likely push the release out into 2013, too long for us and too long for Apple.

SO ... they quickly devised a step update which required minor retooling such as a new circuit board and updated parts, and pushed it into production as a stop-gap release until the original design problems could be resolved.
