Apple does have a terrible track record for Mini love.

But then again, love is fickle, and we may see a spark kindle.
sigh.....

Mac Mini HDD

Nothing to do with upgrades WWDC etc, but does the mac mini still power on and run withOUT its hdd. lets say i remove the hard drive put everything back in than power it on will it.

So, no mac mini update. UGH. Should I just get one now since who knows how long it'll be??

I'm going to wait a little longer. Knowing my luck I'll buy a Mini now and a new one will come along next month.

Apple, give me a new Mac Mini Server, with Ivy Bridge, Intel HD 4000 graphics, and USB 3.0 and I'll give you my money!!

I have my Vertex 3 SSD, 1TB HDD, 8GB RAM, and wireless keyboard and trackpad ready!

lol. What keyboard/trackpad?

I would probably buy one now for those that are waiting, especially if its the model with dedicated graphics.

The main performance gains in ivy bridge were graphically, besides running cooler than sandy bridge. Performance-wise, the CPU capabilities will be very similar, if not the same as SB, but hd4000 will be a nice bump in power from the mediocre hd3000. Remember, the amd6630 will still run circles around any integrated graphics!

Pick one up and enjoy it!:)

The apple wireless keyboard and magic trackpad ;)

I just don't see the point in buying one now when you know what components will be going into the new Mac Mini, and which will probably be available around the same price as the current model. I mean, why buy the current version when the newer version will be a higher spec at around the same price?

Im in no rush to buy, and can wait a few months if need be. I know that if I buy one now I would regret it if the new one was released within only a month or two.

FYI Mac mini server currently supports up to 16GB, I just found this out today.

or maybe just a refresh with USB 3.0 only...

Cant see why they would refresh just for USB3, especially the Ivy Bridge chips and HD4000 are being integrated into their other systems now are are readily available.

You know they have to include a USB 3.0 controller then? And you know that this costs them just as much as adding Ivy Bridge, which comes with a free ('cos integrated) USB 3.0 controller? Never gonna happen.

People would buy at this time because they need a computer, especially when the specs of the current model support all your needs. With not a single leak about the future mini at this time, many people are not comfortable waiting when there is no release date in sight.

I don't blame those who wait, but most of those who wait have a functional computer to use. Not everyone has that option .

+1

Although functional doesn't necessarily mean fast enough. My 2009 MBP actually can't handle FCP X, Aperture and Motion quite well ... But I guess well enough to hold on for some months.
