Of course you want it to be cheaper, just like you want to be able to sell it for $10 a year and a half from now. Wait, what? You want to sell it for near it's original price? ;) It works both ways my friend, both ways.

If you checked out my signature you would see I'm not one of those my 2010 iMac needs to be replaced sort of guys. I'm running a 6 year old dell desk top on windows Vista. It's on it's last legs. After enjoying the IOS devices I have been using and doing some research, I decided to buy an iMac in February. The advice at the time was don't buy as refresh is imminent. So I waited and here we are in mid September. I will be looking to keep this desktop for 5+ years and I don't want it to be out of date when I buy the thing.
When I have finished with it I will probably just donate it like I have every other PC I ever owned.

And as for the don't start a new thread thing. As anybody should be able to see, I post plenty in the iMac forum, and don't start lots of threads like others I could mention. Maybe I didn't realise I needed special permission to start a thread! Who should I ask in future?

This has been done with a top-price-computer before in the year 2011 and before then, plenty of times too am sure.

And because of this you can pay top-price in 2012 when there is alternative in better technology?

Somehow Apple managed to improve iPhone with all-new-breaking-cutting-edge technology. I believe they can with iMac but maybe it's taking too long.
