I truly don’t get the benefit of sitting phone on something plugged in versus just plugging a cable in.

Freedom - the ability to pick up my phone and be able to walk away with it if I want to without having to disconnect/connect a cable constantly (which requires two hands).

Before I got my 8+ I said the same thing and shook my head in disbelief. Now that I have an 8+ and 2 wireless chargers (one for bedside and one for work) - it's really nice. :p Is it necessary? No, plugging in charges faster and works just fine. But it is less work and if I'm in a hurry, I don't have to spend that extra 1-2 seconds plugging in a cable, just set it down and walk away.

I always use my iPad charger when charging my iPhones. Been doing that since ipad 1. Fastest way to charge an iPhone by far, and safe.

lol has it really got to this? Speeding a extra second to unplug a lighting cable? lol two hands?

lol :) If wireless charging wasn't there I wouldn't complain, it's a nice little addon.

Yeah, I used iPad 12w chargers or Anker 60w chargers for years - been doing that until now. My wireless charger is plugged into the Anker 60w. :p haha.
