dmax, IIRC, for Christmas, you were going to buy a bunch of different bluetooth headphones & put the in a pile & everyone would pick out of there. If you ended up doing that, how did it go & what are the pros/cons of the different styles. Sounds like the AirPods are popular.
Have not lost my AirPods yet but if anyone sees my pencil . . .it is the second one, now gone.
The quick version:
The Bose sound much better than the competition. No contest. But for whatever the reason they stick out ridiculously far from my head - i look like 60's era Lt Uhura. Case is too big to slip into a shirt pocket but not too small to lose.
AirPods - Elegant and sit almost perfectly flush to my face. If I had never heard the Bose I'd have nothing to complain about. They are my choice, and daughter #1's.
beatsX - nobody liked the fit.
Powerbeats3 - Daughter 2's choice since they fit her ears and she likes having the cord.
Wife has yet to try. I'll wait until she wants something in the hopes that the wireless charge airpods come out. Then I'll give her mine!
Waiting in line at the Apple store to replace my lost AirPod. First lost one... only had them since Sept. hopefully I will find it once I replace it. I bet it went through the laundry
.
Just updated that I found my pod in my laundry room. No idea if it went though the wash but if it did...it still works! If it did go through the laundry, try using it anyways. There is a lot of speculation online that the air pods are more or less waterproof. Apple doesn’t advertise them as such, but many people have said that theirs were fine after getting soaked/ through the wash, etc.
I have to say that I'm pretty much in agreement with you, however, yesterday, after I got my 2nd pair of AirPods, (Yeah, I returned the first pair, on a lark, too much money, etc), and sat in Starbucks, and started "Diamonds in the soles of her shoes". About halfway through, where the beat changes, I switched from the AirPods, to the Bose Soundsport Free. Honestly, I could not tell the difference, same song, same volume, same eq setting in the phone. Then, I stopped the phone, and started "Graceland" on the watch. Same drill, and I still could not tell the difference. I have to say that I have a high frequency hearing loss, (I can't hear crickets), but to me, they sounded the same. Then, when I got home, I tried the same drill with the Beats PowerBeats 2, and well, they're on the table, probably to be given to my son if he want's them. No contest there, but for me, the battle between the Bose and the Apple comes to convenience, when I switched from the phone to the watch, the AirPods automagically knew what I was doing, the Bose had to be paired again, after shutting BT off on the watch. Also, for me, it's easier to tap the AirPods to answer/hang up the phone than the buttons on the Bose, I pull the thing out of my ear trying to answer a phone.
My 2c worth, your mileage may vary.
