What would be false of my "article"? Have I missed something?

Google CEO and Apple Board Member Eric Schmidt, after collaborating with Apple on some app for a new unreleased product called the iPhone, decide to redevelop their Google phone OS -> False

that looks like a BlackBerry -> False

and add multitouch capabilities which where already patented by Apple. -> False

The problem with unstructured data like phone numbers is people do not conform to a particular style. Some include the leading number one, others, no. Dashes, parens, with or without area codes, international numbers. There is a dense set of logic to recognize "most" numbers reliably.I can see why there is a bit of IP associated with it.

This is just one algorithm of thousands in an OS and its associated apps. The sheer number and variety of apps in iOS is astounding. I would hate to be a programmer. There are too many choices! You have to devote your life to it to do it right and Apple needs legions of them.

Rocketman

yeah, they're called regular expressions and you can find several w/ a simple google search, http://regexlib.com/DisplayPatterns.aspx?categoryId=7&cattabindex=6&AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1

this isn't rocket science

Well, you missed 2 things :

- Android OS never looked like BBOS. Nor does it look like iPhone OS now.
- Apple doesn't hold a patent on multi-touch.

So this one and this one were just lies?

So this one and this one were just lies?

First one is not so much a lie, it's more misinformation and FUD spread by people that have an agenda. It's an untruth : http://www.osnews.com/story/25264/Did_Android_Really_Look_Like_BlackBerry_Before_the_iPhone_

Second one is not a lie either. Steve never claims to hold a patent on the whole of multi-touch. For example : http://www.patentlyapple.com/patent...ul-gestures-in-the-works-for-ios-devices.html

Both your statements are just myths that get repeated often around here. If you read these threads, you'd know these have been debunked countless times and are simply not true. They are exagerations of reality, painted in a way to make Apple out to be a victim and every other competitor an aggressor. The reality is pretty far from that.

Maybe you've been away for a while and haven't been clued in to these facts yet. If so, now would be a good time before you begin spreading the misinformation yourself.

Lies? Perhaps no but they are really wrong claims

Well, now I am aware of this, thanks.

No doubt this will get downvoted.. and I posted it in another thread, but...

The real "behind the scenes" issue is that, despite Apple being #1 and having amazing sales - they are worried about competition. And there's nothing wrong with that. But these lawsuits to try and stop sales is more designed to keep competition from being able to sell their devices and gain even more marketshare than it is about Apple being worried about whether or not the user can click on a phone number and have the phone dial. The lawsuit/patents are a means to an end.

Well, it's had a negative affect to me, and i can't be the only one.

I was considering a 27" iMac and to upgrade my iPad at some stage.

Because of the way Apple is acting these days I decided I did not want to become a part of this "thing" so decided to go with a new PC again, and I'd like to replace my iPad with another brand of tablet in the future.

The day I can fully uninstall iTunes and not have any Apple product in my home will be a good feeling.

I don't like the way they are acting, the control they have over their products and they way they want to control what the customers can /can't do.

Sorry Apple, you lost me.
