In my online credit card statement (the one from the bank) I was charged for my two iTunes purchases that I made when the store opened.

$1.98 total.

So, I would say thats .99 a piece, all inclusive.

Pretty excellent value. I can't imagine an extra charge coming later for taxes. There's no good reason for Apple to invoice them separately, creates more work, confusion and complaints. Not expecting to be charged any more than I have been.

I have to agree now. I got email confirmations for my purchases and there was no mention of taxes anywhere -- just the advertised price. I'd be willing to bet that within days Apple will add "tax included" somewhere in the store or on the website.

Has anyone else remarked upon the censorship in the text to be found on the Canadian store? It looks like any words or song titles that might be offensive (or even imagined to be offensive) are being starred out.
I noticed it first at the Cure's bio page where Pornography was titled P*********y. Then I noticed it again on the Count Basie bio, where they have done the same thing with the word prostitution. Checking the same page at the US store shows no such censorship. In fact, it seems to be applied to any word that might be offensive, regardless of context. It looks like there's a list of dangerous words that some bot has gone over and cleaned up.

Yup, definitely noticed it. Fun with the Search Music Store box: punch in

teen
pet
honky
action
hard
mick

...but not all at once!

(Since when is "teen" ever even remotely offensive? And "mick"???)

If this bugs you, please submit feedback to Apple.

At first, it seemed like nothing was censored: Rob Zombie's albums even showed up uncensored (including the track P***y Liquor). Now, it's swung the other way - I submitted an iMix, and the word 'hard' in my description was censored!

I'm sure it'll get fixed up soon.

lol, "Smells like t**n Spirit"

that hasta be a bug...cause seriously it's ********

EDIT: what the **** is this ****ing ******** all the **** about...MacRumours is ****ing censoring **** now? :D

Well I think it's clear that 700 000 was a blatant lie for the number of tracks on opening day. I don't mind.... but there's no way there were that many. Has anyone noticed the rampant hole filling since then? The Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo, Great Big Sea, all have had their album library hugely increased. I suspect that is one of the reasons for the delay, getting the music online.

Although, since there are 1299 songs by Luciana Pavarotti, who knows, maybe they did have 700 000 opening day.

I sure noticed that hole filling and hope it continues :)
I still don't understand why they didn't put great big sea's newest album up there...it's the same record label as their previous albums

I honestly think they're trying to level out their selection. Put 4-5 albums by everyone up first, then go back and fill in the library completely when there's more time. That, and I don't think the people who are doing it have enough "music" experience yet to know what people want and what's popular by whom. It would be interesting to see who they have hired to pick out music.

It's very interesting to see songs appear a few hours after I last looked. I'm looking for common songs, but sometimes I suspect they're following dead searches of users and putting that on first.

I'm glad they finally put on the "Away From the Sun" album by 3 Doors Down. I felt kinda bad having a song I played 120 times (Here Without You) and never paid for, but I certainly wasn't going to buy their CD.

well, it looks like they fixed the "change store to change language" deal...and now I have no choice but to use iTMS in French. For me, it's no big deal...I'm bilingual...but I'd still prefer english, and so would most people outside of Quebec.

What I don't get though, is how the language you see is chosen. I did a search of my IP and apparently Bell decided to give me an IP that says im from Ottawa, which is about 400km NE of me - and, technically, an english city in an english province. What gives?

I know this sounds ABSURD, but in your account, put your correct address into both the address spaces for your apple ID, billing and shipping. If you put your full address into both it should fix the problem. It did for me. Having Nova Scotia as one address and a blank for the other put me int he french store. Sign out and sign back in when you're done. Let me know if it works.

To change language...

You just have to visit US Stote before Canadian's one. It will automatically pass to english. And If you want to bring back french, visit French store before...

i can go between the stores all day and the Canadian one will stay French...and right now, I'm not signed in on iTunes

EDIT: it randomly switched to English...this is really messed up

Same problem here again. Though earlier this afternoon it was fine. Ten minutes ago, I couldn't access the store at all... sounds like some technical problems are being ironed out...

French or English!!

My has been in english until this afternoon. It's driving me crazy!!!
Is there any other fixes out there!

Up here, our grocery stores sales REAL BEER; not that crappy 3% alcohol budweiser that you guys have in 7 Elevens...

I live in the States (Maine) and I can get 7% at 7-eleven, and 9% just down the street from that at a private beer/wine/liquor store. I haven't seen anything like a 3% beer in a long long time. I think they only sell that in places like Utah.

"mick" is a derogatory term for an Irishman. (call someone in Boston Bar a Mick and you're likely to get your ass kicked)

Of course. I see it so rarely that it didn't click.

soo, what about mickey the mouse?

Better yet, do a search for Mick Jagger! Love this song:

State of Shock (with M**k Jagger)

I find this especially funny, given Canadian society as a whole is much more tolerant of questionable material!

Grrr.... wish I could see and use the iTMS Canada in all its glory and funny quirks (profanity filter). I've waited so long, and now it's here, my campus network seems to make it not work. Just keeps coming up with errors. Sometimes I can get in a see a list of songs or perform a search, but never the homepages or similar type pages.

Fired off an email to the head of IT, they're 'looking into it'. I'm expecting iTMS for me next year some time :(

Weird - sounds like they're treating it as some sort of file-sharing/P2P app or something, like blocking access to Kazaa. They may just have certain posts blocked off, etc., so hopefully if they get enough requests they'll think twice and modify their access lists...

Funny language thing

Weird - iTMS changed to french for me, too. Just re-selecting iTMS Canada fixed the problem, though.

Just made my 1st purchase on iTMS yesterday: "I Will Never Be" (Australian Hillsongs).

Then my 2nd purchase: $100 gift cert.

I can see that spending money on iTMS could be WAY too easy...

My reference was Colorado, back in 2002, and California (Downtown Los Angeles), back in 2000...
