Tomorrow will be two weeks since the iPhone 17, Pro, Max & Air launched. How many of you are happy with your new phone(s)? What did you upgrade from? I upgraded to a silver 17 Pro Max and I am 100% happy with my upgrade from a 13 Pro Max.

I've had a 6.9" Cosmic Orange 17 Pro Max for about a week. It was to replace my 6.7" 12 Pro Max. Although I already found my 12 Pro Max a tad big, it was manageable, so I thought the 17 Pro Max would feel about the same. It does feel similar and it is manageable too as strictly a two-handed device, but the larger size is still noticeable and I'm finding it a bit more awkward holding it in one hand while using the other hand to scroll.

So, I've ordered the Cosmic Orange 17 Pro and will see how that goes. I tested my daughter's 16e for a while and it does feel a tad small but it's more than usable and it's very comfortable to hold. I'm hoping the slightly bigger 6.3" 17 Pro will be sufficient for me.

I'm thinking I'd like the form factor of the 6.5" iPhone Air, but the single speaker and single camera are non-starters for me.

As of right now I'm not sure which I'll keep, but I'll make my decision next week.

I love my new launch day iPhone 17 Pro Max Cosmic Orange. I had the blue 15 Pro Max before and it was a nice upgrade in battery, cameras & the camera control button features. I thoroughly enjoy the change of pace in having the orange color option instead of all the same recycled colors from the past. Battery life is amazing and the weight and form factor have never bothered me. Would make the same choice of iPhone again.

Upgraded from a 14PM to the Air and not a single complaint. Absolutely love it. Battery life has been more than sufficient and is noticeably better than my 14PM.
Just got my Air as well and it looks lovely - I am just waiting for my ordered case to arrive before migrating from my XR.

By the way, a question: should I migrate the SIM cards before transferring the whole content from my old phone, or vice-versa?

Well normally I would swap the SIM card first, but because of eSIM I actually set up the Air first (via the setup transfer from my old phone). I was without any cellular on the Air for a few days as annoyingly both my mobile providers here didn’t support eSIM transfer without a store visit to get a new QR code. The only real issue I had was with OTP codes, as those were sent to my old iPhone so I had to keep both phones together until I had signed into everything and had all apps running on the Air - so a minor annoyance but not a showstopper.

As far as I know, my carrier does support the easy eSIM transfer/conversion - so it should not be too difficult to migrate my two phone lines to the Air.

Just got my air today I really love the fourm factor and easy to type with both hands and I love the light wight of it

Switched from 15PM to Air — My Thoughts (and Final Decision)

I recently switched from the iPhone 15 Pro Max to the new Air. Honestly, I don’t love it… but I don’t hate it either. Just kinda meh. That said, I really appreciate how lightweight, thin, and snappy it is — my hands definitely prefer it for daily use.

What I miss:
  • The 0.5x ultra-wide lens — turns out I used that a lot.
  • A bit of the image quality and versatility from the 15PM’s triple-camera setup.
But here’s the thing: I already have a Samsung S25 Ultra that I use for travel and serious photography. So I don’t really need the Pro Max’s camera every day.

I debated keeping both phones, but carrying two iPhones felt like overkill. In the end, I decided to:
  • ✅ Keep the Air as my daily driver
  • ✅ Use the S25 Ultra for camera-heavy situations
  • ❌ the 15PM — keeping it as back-up and giving it to my parents to upgrade from their iPhone 12

Congratulations and enjoy! :D

I upgraded from a 15 Pro Max Black Titanium (after the White Titanium was stolen from me) to a 17 Pro Max Silver, so I am very happy, I absolutely loved the white 15 PM and was sad when I could only find a black one to replace it as I have owned an endless amount of black glass slabs.

The Silver 17 PM is truly a replacement of my original White 15 PM, and it looks even more Pro and beautiful, so I am absolutely loving it.

I went from a 16 pro to an Air. If it wasn't for the form factor I would not have because i think technically the 16 pro is a better phone. But the weight does get to me and i know it's not even a pro max. As a woman with what i think is just normal sized hands, and someone who works in an office and plays tennis, the weight from time to time did get to me. Not always but sometimes it did. I even told myself i wouldn't get an Air because well i'm giving up things.

But I do love it. Love the screen. Love the size, love the weight. I have had it for 2 weeks and I haven't had to use an ultra wide. I do miss telephoto lens though. But do I miss it enough for my hand to hurt? no.

Great phone.

I like my iPhone 17 Pro but I am extremely disappointed with the battery life. It doesn’t last a whole day without charging it and I’m now resorting to switching to low power mode in order to make it through the day. Disappointing for something that Apple boasts to last 33-hours.

Before anyone tell me that battery drain is “normal” because the phone is “rendering”… I’ve had my phone since day 1 so it’s been 2 weeks. Reindex should’ve been completed by now.

Upgraded from 14 pro to 17 pro blue. Love the battery (but it did degrade somewhat with sw update). Love the bright screen and the form factor. Was not in love with it (form factor) initially but now I think it’s great. Nice in the hand and the softer corners are interestingly more appealing than 14 pro. I saw the Air in store and loved the size and weight, unfortunately too many compromises at this stage of my iPhone journey. One thing: would love the 17 pro to be a tad larger in screen.

Have had a black Air since launch day (no case or screen protector - eek!)

Love the feel, the look, the (lack of) weight.
Love how it slips easily in and out of my pocket.
Love the large clear screen and the responsiveness (coming from a 14 PM).
Love the phone's sturdiness - solid as a rock so far.

Love the simplicity of the camera - never explored the many options on my Pro Max, I'm a point-and-shoot fan.
Speaker sounds loud and clear to me. Not in the habit of listening to music, watching films or putting calls on speakerphone anyway.
Battery sees me through the day after an overnight charge.
Like the option of the battery pack if needed but not having to carry that extra weight around when not needed.

As you can tell, I'm not a demanding "Pro" user yet somehow always paid for Pro iPhones in the past and never used a fraction of their capabilities. So, the Air suits me well.

Marvelling at the engineering feat of the Air every time I hold it hasn't grown old yet.

I went from a Deep Purple 14 Pro to a Deep Blue 17 Pro and I love it, it’s so smooth and, to me, a pretty phone ☺️ glad I went for the blue. I upgrade every 2 years, I don’t think you see much change if you upgrade every year (although I enjoy the new phone feeling). My brother upgraded from a 13 Pro to the Cosmic Orange 17 Pro and he’s similarly impressed.

15 PM to 17 PM - both in blue. Satisfying upgrade: the 17 PM is snappier, does not get hot (so far) and the battery life is impressive.

I've gone from an 11 to a blue 17 Pro and I am really happy with it. Had the 11 for five and a half years so it was time for a change. It's total overkill for my needs but I've not had a Pro model before so I thought I'd treat myself this time. Originally I wanted a Pro Max but after trying my partners 16PM in my trouser pocket it felt a bit too big.

Obviously everything is a lot better, slicker and I like the new design. One thing I'm slightly disappointed with is the battery and I appreciate it is probably how I've got it set up, max charge set at 80% and then charging it again at around 25%. It does last a day, but I've only been using it lightly so far, even carrying on using my 11 at home for looking on social media. I remember when I first got my 11 I was charging it every 2nd or even sometimes the 3rd night, so was kinda hoping for maybe better than that!

Overall I do love it but I wouldn't say I'm wowed by it.
