Thought I would add a different set up for comparison. Dual quad E5472 3Ghz harpertowns, 8Gb ram, Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit.

54.974770 fps
Time : 4 min 21 sec

Will try this on my dual quad westmere system running ubuntu 64 and see how it compares.

MacBook Pro 4,1, (Early 2008) 2.5Ghz C2D, 4Gb RAM, 8600m GT GFX

work: average encoding speed for job is 13.288348 fps
18 Minutes, 1 second (1081 Seconds)

Mac Pro 5,1, (Mid 2010) 2.8Ghz Xeon, 6Gb RAM, 5870 GFX

work: average encoding speed for job is 41.623505 fps
5 Minutes 45 Seconds (345 Seconds)

Totally forgot about this thread. I did indeed get a new 2011 iMac, and here are my results:

2011 iMac 3.1GHz Quad Core i5
Average encoding speed for job is 45.648239 fps
5 minutes 15 seconds

Quite a huge improvement over the 25 minutes I got with the old Mac Mini!

Imac 97 2.8 and 980X

Okay the iMac 2.8 i7

did it in 6:40 @ 36FPS

The PC i7 980X @ 4.2 did it in

3:02 @ 76FPS

I could drop both if I killed all other running processes

My results:

2011 2.7GHz i5
5:54 (354 sec) @ 40.61 fps

Late 2009 3.06GHz C2D
14:08 (848 sec) @ 16.95 fps

Macbook 1,1 2006, 1.83 Ghz Core Duo, 2Gb Ram

[22:03:34] work: average encoding speed for job is 5.969629 fps

24 min 58 sec

getting a new imac tomorrow. can't wait! :apple: :D

Impressed by the new mbps. Interesting to see the custom pcs showing up the 2010 pros, the pcs also running 2010 gear. I can see myself upgrading my current mbp to a 2011 model, nice performance jump

Mac mini early 2009 2.0Ghz c2d, 4gb

work: average encoding speed for job is 10.528183 fps

woyo

2011 Mac Mini Server (2.0 i7 Quad w/ 8GB RAM)

6:51 @ 34.976871 fps

Comparatively:

2011 Macbook Pro 15" (2.0 i7 Quad w/4GB RAM)

6:21 @ 37.774349 fps

Guess that AMD GPU in the MPB adds a little extra spice...

2001 27" iMac 3.4ghz i7
46.802231 fps
5:07

i've been ripping blu-rays for a couple days now. they've been averaging 30-35 fps on the encodes.

funny C2D 2.4 Mini is only 7ms slower then 2011 Base Mini i5 2.3

Seems a bit odd, I would have thought the new one would rule in comparison for encoding.

I never saw any results for the 2011 21.5" i7 2.8 GHz, so here's what I got.

4 Min, 56 seconds.
Average encoding speed for job is 48.673664 fps

2011 27" i5 @ 2.7

40.85 Average Frames
5:48 minutes

Pretty good considering it is almost $700 less then the i7

My Log:

2011 Imac I7 3.4 with 16gb RAM...Not exactly sure what your looking for so here it is:)

Just to make you laugh and for the record

My results are :

Average : 8.455198 fps
Duration : 00:28:20

My machine is a late 2006 MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo 2.16 Ghz...

I'd like to know what the results of the latest MacBook Air would be on the same test.
Does anybody have any of these machines ?
-MacBook Air 11" 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
-MacBook Air 13" 1.7GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
-MacBook Air 13" 1.8GHz dual-core Intel Core i7

average encoding speed for job is 50.120106 fps

didn't turn off any other tasks though.... still :)

My mid 07 iMac with a 2.5ghz penryn chip did 11 min 53 sec at 12fps

2011 mac mini server quad core did it in 3 min 39 sec at 39.8 fps

It's probably been posted already but here are my numbers for a 2011 2.7 GHz i5 21.5" display iMac. It has 4GB of stock RAM and the stock 1 TB drive.

[16:49:27] macgui: Rip: Pending queue count is 1
[16:53:39] work: average encoding speed for job is 44.486015 fps

Elapsed time is 4:12 if I did my math right.

Hi

I am venturing in the dark side. I am trying a windows PC, based on the i7-3770 chip. The results are:

encode time: 00:03:28
avg fps: 69.2 fps

Handbrake version: HandBrake-0.9.8-x86_64-Win_GUI

2012 27" 3.4 i7 iMac

2012 27" iMac 3.4 i7, 24GB RAM, 680MX, Samsung 830 256GB SSD (via Thunderbolt).

Avg. FPS: 67.479836 fps
Time: 3:35

That's roughly 17% faster than the 2011 3.4 i7 results posted on this thread.
