The only thing I try to think about is not to slide it across surfaces in fear of scratching the lens...

I used to think this as well, but since I figured out it's a sapphire lens and can't be scratched by almost anything, I decided to go naked. After having to replace two iPhone 4 back covers because the lens got so scratched (could no longer take clear pictures), I didn't want this happening with my 5. Basically the only reason I had a case, but I'm very happy for the new camera lens material!

After reading this thread, I took my black iPhone 5 out of its Spigen Slim Armor case and no scratches whatseover. I turned it over and over in direct sunlight, different angles, and the body and screen are in literally perfect condition. I love you, Spigen.

I had a magpul and tech 21 on and ended up with a divot , I'm now with a full skin and should protect from scratches. Plus apple care + I'm covered

I had my 5 for a day, it slid off my lap when making a turn and hit the seat rail and made a slight scratch on the side. Haven't given two ***** since then. I enjoy my phone. Not overly obsessed about it being "perfect". The only thing i really care about is the screen. The 5 is a tough SOB anyway. I dropped it a few weeks ago on asphalt, fully expecting it to be shattered. Just a few dings. Still kicking.

Don't be too worried about scrathes

I think the iphone looks good with scratches, kind of gets a more used, rough almost noir tech look when bumped a little. If you have worry about your tech getting scratched constantly you waste your energy. Even though i think it's quite pathetic that Apple releases tech that scratches this easily.

Ha, speak for yourself. I for one don't want scratches on my phone.

That's nice for you. But a $50 pair if jean this is not. Unfortunately I'm not rich and I have to sell my iPhone for the highest possible price to be able to buy the next one.

You should probably concern yourself with other things than a phone then.

Why? What point are you trying to make? that if i cant afford to let my iphone get damaged lose a lot of value, i should not have one at all? Dont be so ridiculous.

Some people have strange ideas

I just ordered a Skinomi and plan to use only the back for the back of my iPad mini. I just noticed some very light scratches, that I put there by sliding it in and out of a homemade car holder. I hope it works
