They are already on AmazonThey did. They just decided the solution was a holder. So they designed some model holders, which Apple is selling as a product. Cheap third-party holders will be on the market in a few month. You can bet some are racing.

Maybe. A lot of apple customers may prefer to express their individuality and there will be (already is!) an entire ecosystem of hodlers. People who are willing to pay $600 for a luggage tag aren’t going to find tile very attractiveThis the dumbest product Apple has made in quite some time, why would I buy an accessory to a tag? That's just ridiculous. Tile beats Apple in design here.
Or Apple could have just built a key ring hole into the product so you wouldn’t have to spend money on an accessory.Or, you know, instead of taking frugality to a ridiculous, risky, inelegant extreme, you could just buy a third-party holder (example, example 2) on Amazon. Just a wild thought . . .

It can find my iPhone for me just like a Tile does. For about $29You have to pay a little more and get an Apple Watch for that. How much can a $29 item do for you. Jeez /s.
Ya' gotta love the fact that Apple's Air Tag holders cost as much or more than the product they are designed to hold. Surprise!

The cynic would say they did it on purpose so people have to buy the holder to attach it to keys = more profit for apple
Reasons this site is great, ranked:
It only does that if you have the stole app open and set up. If you don’t like that feature you can shut the app down, only ever open it when you’ve lost your keys! Simples. And go off in your pocket on an almost daily basis? no thanks
Really? Do you live in a pineapple under the sea? How did you survive a few years ago before there was any sort of waterproofing on iPhones? No, just no. They just broke the waterproof seal. It will turn into a rust bucket within 6 months.
