All it needs now is a button you can press to help you find your iPhone, it will be as useful as a Tile then.
With your design, i just need a sport band to receive notification and an airtag to find my phone. The combo costs 60$ and battery life is from 3 weeks to 1 year.

You know who will hate you at most? Tim cook! You are ruining his watch Empire.

Why make a hole when you can sell a holder for like $30.....you know...cause they just LOVE their customers.

Or you can buy a holder for $5 or $7 from one of the seven pages worth of non-apple holders on Amazon right now. Which is an entire ecosystem that wouldn’t exist if apple included a hole. Which means all these options would not exist, and we‘d all have just one choice - a hole.

this is so illogical, you need to look for one thing to find another. just use the apple watch or homepod

Not illogical at all. If you have your keys with an AirTag on them, and can't find your phone, it WOULD be very convenient to be able to press a button to locate your phone. And obviously not everyone has an Apple Watch or HomePod.

this is the obvious solution.

I will NOT pay 60% on top of the product that I want (the airTag) just because those greedy managers decided to give it a hole/loop so that people can attach it to stuff.
People stating that they wouldn't do it because they'd risk damaging it... well. The risk of damaging it can be 66% and you break even. Any less and you're winning!

Apple: be ashamed of yourself to force people to purchase holders. You could have sold them anyways.

I'll definitely drill holes in mine, I thought so before I saw this. However, I will make them waterproof again by sealing the hole with hot glue or something.

Or you can buy any of a hundred different holders for $7 or less on the internet, from companies other than apple, or you can use duct tape, or you can use a 3-D printer, and not moronically drill holes into your $30 device.

Cool.. can’t believe that Apple’s design engineers did not think of this use case.
The engineers probably did but Apple's management probably forbade them from doing so since Apple wants people to buy its accessories.
Apple has to make more money which it also does from selling accessories.

Good idea. Especially since, for them, giving Apple ZERO MONEY AT ALL is out of the question? I always wondered who these folks were that were forced to buy Apple products. :)

True. “Apple is greedy! I am forced to buy these airtags and they won’t give me a free way to attach them to things in an attractive way!”. And if we point this out, we’re apple shills and trolls.

This the dumbest product Apple has made in quite some time, why would I buy an accessory to a tag? That's just ridiculous. Tile beats Apple in design here.
So that they can sell you the accessories and improve their profits. When I picked up my airtags, I was led to a table with all the accessories laid out nicely. Had to wait for the genius to go thru the accessories before he was willing to pass me the airtags.

And, you skipped buying the accessories? Seems like there’s a hole in Apple’s “improving their profits” plan. They obviously didn’t think about the fact that they left an opportunity for customers to choose NOT to buy accessories.

They don’t need everyone to buy. They just need a few to buy. If the article is true that Apple made $1billion by selling airtags. If just 20% bought the accessories, that’s a cool $200m more in revenue 💰
