At each 100,000 songs for a nano at a daily average of over 3,000,000 as per SJ comments in his Keynote, they will be handing out 30 nanos a day... That's got to be easy to get  ;)

The US Apple Store is down. Any idea what's going on? New Shuffles?

By golly you're right! Hmmm! Maybe the iBook? Nah.

And again people are voting this iTunes story negative.... wwwhy?!

new product is a 1GB iPod nano (for $149 U.S.?)

From Australia's Apple store

Maybe they'll announce that the MBP's are shipping now too and lower the prices on the G4 PBs like they did with the G5 iMacs

Looks like it's just the 1GB nano and nothing else.

512MB Shuffle -- $69
1GB Shuffle -- $99
1GB nano -- $149
2GB nano -- $199
4GB nano -- $249
30GB iPod video -- $299
60GB iPod video -- $399

MBPs still shows Ships: February :(

I want my MBP now!!! Tired of waiting

I'm getting mesmerized looking at the itunes song counter: beautiful....
I know it's not going in real time, but still, it sure does make it hard to keep my finger off the 'buy song now' button :). I'd like to see a plot of song buying activity as each 100,000 plateau approaches, to see what the max song-buying rate is.....then again, I'm obviously a nerdy scientist for wanting such a plot. Sorry.

That's 11,500 songs: 9000 songs on 750 albums, plus 2500 singles.

You will spend 104 hours finding and downloading them.

And then it will take you 96 days to hear them all.

But I have dial-up. How long will that take?

Unfortunately dsl & cable aren't available. :(

This could also be another indicator for an ipod event later this month. At least another thing to announce along with new shuffles or w/e.

You also have to pay a lot of money on income taxes. I'd donate them to a charitable organization to offset the taxes for the other prizes.
I don't understand - aren't you taxed on the value of the prizes? If you sold the iPods, you wouldn't be further taxed, and it would help offset the taxes quite nicely, I'd think.

(I wonder how much that used-up card will be worth on eBay? Should be quite a collector's item!)

I doubt I'd ever use it up. I'd just buy music whenever it occurred to me, and it'd probably last me for years.

I am confused. According to the official rules each purchase enters you in the contest, but according to the main contest page the person who purchases the 100,000th song wins. Which is it? Random drawings? Arrgh!

Don't be confused :). Every time you buy a song, that is participating in the contest and it has a chance of being one of the winning songs. So, if you are number 100,000 to buy a song since the last winner, you win!

It's like those "every 10th person through the door gets a frisbee" events at retail stores. Walking through the door enters you into the contest, but your number in line determines whether you've won.

wow. that is a hell of a 1st place prize

I have no idea if this has already been said, but......why in the name of whatever would anyone rate this negative?

yea, i couldnt agree with you more. its like ok, you either buy from iTunes or you dont and if you do, you now have a chance of winning big for what you already do...

$10,000 iTunes Gift Card?!

So... could you take that to the Apple Store for a cash trade-in? Or at least a store credit? :p

The big winner traditionally gets a phone call from Steve.

Well, God, an Apple store gift card would be nicer than the $10,000 iTunes for us Mac freaks though!   :D
