Grid View is scrolling much more smoothly for me now in version 10, version 9.x would pause for a (frustrating) moment when scrolling.

So I'm happy with that.

I think iTunes 10 is a winner. I like Ping already, I can see it growing really fast like Facebook did.

I think going 64 bit is less important than Ping, though as a power user I'll appreciate the whole OS going 64.

Does anyone know how to remove Ping from the sidebar, short of disabling the iTunes Store? I'll never use it and I hate looking at it.

iTunes 10 is a big step down. Time to check out Songbird or Rhythmbox.

The vertical buttons and the ugly icon are actually the least of iTunes 10's problems. When in the "Album List" view, all albums that have less than "x" tracks (let's say "x" for now, cause I haven't actually discovered that number yet) do not appear with an album cover. Yup. Meaning that, when you have, say, a band with many releases, and you have some of their albums and singles, the singles' artwork simply WILL NOT APPEAR. And even if you SEARCH for this SPECIFIC single on the search, you get it with NO COVER, and there's no option to disable this kind of behavior! That's why I'm switching to Grid view for now.

That's atrocious behavior. The way iTunes is going, with features that try to help me and pointless social networks, I'd rather organize my music in folders and play it with QuickTime. Seriously, there's way too much complication for what should be a simple app.

How to create your own Artist Page in Ping ?

Hi,

I've got several albums on itunes and like to create my own Artist Pages in Ping.

Anybody how to do this ?

I switched the new dock icon back to the old one almost as soon as I updated. It just kinda stuck out like a sore thumb in comparison to the other icons on my dock. I've kept the new icon lying around though just in case I might want/need it back in future.

Apart from that I'm happy with it.

It's Elite Beat iTunes! :D

You can turn off Ping in your account preferences within the iTunes store. But! It still keeps the Ping menu item! Ridiculous design, but iTunes seems to be the natural home for all of Apple's ridiculous design ideas ;).

This is the default behaviour only. You can change this by selecting, View -> Always Show Artwork.

And the limit is 5 songs.

In Hybrid view, View > Always Show Album Artwork

Also, 'X' is 5, as Steve pointed out about 4 times in the keynote yesterday.

Kfanxbai.

What the hell? New iCon is crap, new interface changes are crap, Ping won't even work (it just keeps asking for my apple id without going any further), why is it every iTunes update strives to make the app worse?
I want iTunes 4 back!

COLORS!

I hate the lack of colors in iTunes 10, so I did a little ThemePark rsrc hacking and put the colored icons from 9.2 back into 10. It's not perfect, but I didn't want to waste too much time on it, and it looks alright on my computer for the icons that I use regularly.

Download (zip, 11.1mb)

Instructions included.

Enjoy, and feel free to let me know if you see an icon that should be fixed—I didn't check that they all look normal. :p

- Small size only.
- Some may be broken.
- No guarantees.

THX! worked like a charm and i got my colors back YEY

Still not finding an option to remove Ping from the sidebar. At this point, I'm giving up. Apple is no better than google on this, forcing this crap down our throats. At least it's not enabled by default, it just sits there...

If I'm not going to use it, at least let me get rid of it.

It looks bland but I'll probably get used to that, what's less forgivable is the removal of the search bar when syncing movies or apps to my iPhone... I've got over 500 movies, when picking one of them to sync I used to use the search bar, it was invaluable, and now it's gone!!! WTF!!! I now have to scroll down to find what I'm after, fine if you have 20 movies but a pain in the ***** when you have 500!!! :(

I'm always amazed how some people just love to complain.... honestly I don't know why anyone would be too upset over the new update? Most of the new stuff you can turn off and have what you had before. It seems faster, and who cares about an icon... it's an icon for goodness sake.

It will be interesting to see if Ping catches on.

agreed. I suppose nowadays everyone looks cool complaining about something...so why not complain about the icon.
