PLEASE fix the bug where about half the time, the currently playing song doesn't show!

Honestly, I'd pay for some mod of iTunes 7 that makes it work with my iPhone 5 and iTunes Radio... back before they started making unnecessary changes that introduced bugs and added bloat.

It'd be nice if Apple finally fixes iTunes so that:

1. It automatically updates sideloaded video media when uploaded to the iTunes folder (like home movies and movie rips).

2. Make it so that Home Sharing does not lose connection every day and require that iTunes is restarted. I use a Windows 7 machine which feeds two ATVs and have to restart iTunes every day on it, otherwise my ATV can't see it.

Frankly, if it wasn't for AirPlay and the sort of better UI, I would have replaced the ATVs with Rokus by now.

Maybe Google's Chromecast and the new hardware coming out will finally bring a robust competitor to ATV.

App Shopper does a better job than Apple with wishlist.

It's nice but I buy everything else on iTunes and AppShopper unfortunately only covers apps.

----------

Wonder if they'll ever bring that Buy All button back for the Wish List.

It seems they lost a patent lawsuit or something that made them remove it.

Good! I actually do not want that button back ever. I have over $3000 worth on my wishlist and I always took great care to keep my mouse cursor away from that button!

My ATV refuses to even work if Home Sharing isn't enabled, which means that it absolutely requires an internet connection to work. I have no idea what Home Sharing is, but I'm forced to use it; it just seems like Apple's version of Google Plus.

That is probably an issue with your network. I also run iTunes on Windows 7 and do not need to restart either one every day. My quick guess is that your NIC is going to sleep.

This is Home Sharing. It only requires a local network (no Internet connectivity required).

Honestly, I have no hope/expectation that Apple will ever figure out how to make a good music app again. I do hope that Spotify will improve their services by allowing me to buy individual tracks and letting me listen to those ad free and without shuffling on mobile - then there'd be absolutely no appeal to changing to iTunes (right now, for the handful of songs not in Spotify I have to buy it on iTunes. Kind of disappointing - I feel like Spotify deserves my money, not Apple, but that's the way it works since Apple is the one with a functioning payment system.)

Beach Ball

Updated an hour ago and it is beach balling me after playing any song or video now and requiring a forced quit. Previous iTunes never did this. They broke something for sure. Happens on almost every play. I have a 24,000 song library on a USB3.0 4TB external drive so might have to do with having a large library or via usb. Latest 15" rMBP top of the line all options checked. Computer is about a week old but has not done this at all until this update.

That's what the Automatically Add to iTunes folder is for.

I have a shortcut to it in my dock. Drag new stuff in there or have it download into there - goes to iTunes.

This. And since firmware 6 on the ATV, I not only have to restart iTunes but often my ATV too. I am about to give up on home sharing.

Might be. But my experience is that not working home sharing can have lots of causes. On the Apple support forums there are long threads with numerous possible solutions, like never put ATV/iMac/router to sleep, make fixed IP adresses, reset certain settings, make wired/wireless connection, darkwake=1, other obscure network settings and whatnot. I and others tried 10s of solutions, but each solution lasted only for a few days max.

Frankly, I more or less have given up on home sharing to work for me.

Ok so why can't I AirPlay directly from my iPhone to AirPort Express in iOS 7?

When can we have that feature back Apple?

Resyncs all my photos?

Did the upgrade trigger any one else's next sync to resync all their photos? Mine is going through all 3456 pictures right now, one at a time. Ugh.

I just installed the iTunes update and Safari is WAY faster now.

Not sure if you are being funny or not but apparently there could be some truth behind this statement. Here is excerpt from some reported patches in version 11.1.4

"There are 25 vulnerabilities fixed in total."....."16 are memory handling errors in WebKit, the browser engine behind Safari. "

I know what the update did do

I installed the update and my ipad Air and my ipod touch are "gone"
only the ipod classic shows up in iTunes. I tried activating Apple mobile device support, but it is already activated, so I don't know what to do now.

Ever since the update, when I open iTunes and begin scrolling down my albums list, the mouse freezes for a second or two then I can resume scrolling. Didn't happen before

problem solved : I had to completely remove every shread of apple/itunes/bonjour/apple mobile device/cloud... that I could find on my pc because everytime I had issues. downloading itunes via apple software updater always resulted in an unstable itunes version. I finally installed iTunes via the apple website download page and now I both Air and Touch are found again and no error messages anymore ! Sigh...
Never had some much trouble after an iTunes update:mad:

greetings,

Likely someone already gave you a solution but just in case, you need to plug them back in to your iTunes/computer and they should be accessible again in iTunes. It happens to me quite often in the previous version... So I guess they didn't fixed that in the new one...

Wow! That's too bad. It sounds like you've tried all the right things. I've rarely had problems with Home Sharing but like most (and maybe all) Windows 7 x64 users I gave up on wifi syncing.

It would be interesting to see if when you cannot connect via Home Sharing, check the "host" PC and see if iTunes Airplay can see Airplay devices. It's been my experience if iTunes doesn't see the network the Airplay control will either not be displayed or not show any Airplay devices.

Still waiting for the app free trials before purchases, Apple!

it's available to developers if they want to use it. That's part of why the whole IAP exists. Apple is likely never to force it on developers because they don't want folks walking away from ecosystem.

As Apple has never even hinted it was a possibility to ever happen I'd stop waiting cause you will more likely be disappointed in the end

----------

It is used by iOS 7 when it says to connect to iTunes.

Means nothing really. After all Mail, Safari, Contacts, Calendars, iPhoto, iMovie, garageband, game center etc don't have the same icons either.

----------

Hope tis fixes the disappearing and reappearing WiFi issues with devices

it's an update to iTunes, not Mavericks or iOS so it has nothing to do with wifi connections

I haven't noticed this. In fact I haven't noticed any changes at all. Including the wish list thing which apparently someone forgot to turn on before activating the update. oops
