That is probably an issue with your network. I also run iTunes on Windows 7 and do not need to restart either one every day. My quick guess is that your NIC is going to sleep.

This is Home Sharing. It only requires a local network (no Internet connectivity required).

Home sharing requires an Apple ID to authenticate, thus possibly the need to be online.

Beach Ball

... so after reinstalling iTunes and having the same Beach Ball issue I decided to just let it spin... all night in fact and low and behold the next morning it stopped spinning :roll eyes: must have been re-parsing all the songs in my library or something. Seems to be working now though just not sure what i broke by forcing quit 5 or 6 times before letting it just run.

this is the one big complaint i have about iTunes in general is sometimes it goes through a long process of something and doesn't really tell you what it is working on. especially true with iMatch and genius when your library has over 10k songs. took at least 10 runs of match at first to get it to finish the whole process of uploading and whatnot. they just need a progress bar that you can click to open more details where you can see exactly the file it is working on or thinking about if you want.

I see it now

Including the wish list thing which apparently someone forgot to turn on before activating the update. oops

You have to RESTART in order to see it.

I actually did a cache dump and PRAM reset for something else, incidentally.

I also just saw that my other Mac is now showing it in library as well without a restart, so that suggests it's a server push.

Apple seems to have remotely enabled the wish list, it now appears between the iDevice and Store buttons:

Yesterday we watched a movie using homesharing.

Today I installed the new version of iTunes and now I can't play any movie anymore?????? I restarted iTunes, did a PRAM reset, restarted my ATV but still no go. :(

Before this new iTunes version I had to wake up my iMac and restart iTunes to make sure things worked. Since the new ATV firmware I need to restart my ATV too. But now with the new iTunes version nothing works anymore. Apple's homesharing is going downhill for me.

This morning I downgraded the firmware of my Apple TV to 5.3 (I was on 6.0.2). This solved my problem! :)

I had lagging playback, both from iTunes as well as for Airplaying a video from my iPad. Often the airplay just would not start. And after the new iTunes version video playback wouldn't work at all.

With firmware 5.3 my ATV is again as fast as it used to be: videos start promptly, no waiting for the spinning disc and hoping the thing will start. It just works now :)

Yeah, I don't see it either. Only with sidebar off and while in the iTunes store, once back to the local library it goes away.

It's there for me. It's the three-lines button in the top right. Click it and your wish list and previews appear.

It didn't require a restart for me.

Since the update, when I connect my iphone 5 to my computer, itunes doesn't auto-start anymore, is it only me?

Not showing for me in MAS

When I started iTunes a few days ago it gave me the notice that there was an update. I clicked update and it took me to the MAS but no update was found.
