I am getting sick of these daily updates. They packed like 10 applications and a lot of DRM and anti iPhone hacking stuff into one app. Now they have to update iTunes every few hours to fix a workaround here, a hack there. For someone who just wants to play music this is totally unnecessary and really annoying.

Daily? Way to be over-dramatic. More like weekly at most! What am I say!? It's more like monthly.

...Probably DRM issues dictated by the studios, I'm guessing it's because the computers don't have video outputs that the studios consider secure.

LOL... Yes, it's new to Apple TV 2... They call it "SVORM" which stands for "Secure Video Output Right Management" ;)

ringtones still there

I downloaded the update and my mp4 converted ringtones are still there. Then again, I haven't connected my phone to my computer yet. Hmmm, I think I'll wait until I hear it's all clear. ;)

You could just ignore the updates. If you're not using new features and not exposing yourself to suspicious content, then there's no real need to apply an update as soon as it comes out.

In iTunes General Preferences, turn off automatic update checking. Then in System Preferences, set your Software Update to check Monthly.

Suddenly you'll notice that these frequent updates only seem to come out in monthly batches. :D

iTunes feels snappier!

Yeah well that sounds good... i was wondering if all those 7.6 beachballs and hestitations (which I had never experienced with iTunes before) were just a glitchy cry for a patch, or a sign that my workhorse G4 powerbook drive was getting seriously cluttered. Now I'm going to apply the update after a full backup and find out.

I didn't have many of the 7.6 spinners under Leopard on the MacBook Air. Might not be a fair comparison... I don't have a huge music and video library on the MacBook Air, just some selections.

======
Update: happy camper here. no beachballs. sheezaworka good! I put 7.6.1 on one powerbook running Tiger and also on the macbook air. The Air is now busy renting Bourne Ultimatum... and the powerbook is playing from a 100-track playlist I had made up for my old iTunes ROKR phone.

I seriously wonder how many people that insist on 1080P can actually see the difference between 720P and 1080P at their normal viewing distance. I certainly can't tell on my system at my regular viewing distance.

I dont know if this was answered..

Is the $.99 rental available for download on the AppleTV or just from iTunes?

If I can rent it from my AppleTV this is great, I'll definitely be downloading and watching more, if not, this wont make a huge difference in my movie renting.

Any changes in the 24 hour limit?

Now that people have had 7.6.1 for more than 24 hours... has anyone experimented with the 24 hour limit yet? Is the behavior any different?

Even at 99 cents i won't be renting many movies. I have Verizon DSL and it took 4 hours to download The Hours. So much for watching a movie this afternoon during a snow storm. :(

Lucky you. I should switch to cable soon. I just like to keep my bills low. But 4 hours sucks!!

All you need to do is convince your boss that you need fast internet at home so you can vpn in after hours and get work done... works for me. (I expense my ISP fees)

iphone does not sync anymore with 7.6.1

NO Battery charge and no sync anymore with the new release for my hacked 1.1.3 iphone... Any similar findings?
Thanks

SORRY - it must have been from the parallels, which I runned for the first time while syncing.... maybe that helps you once in a while as well:)

Jelly Visualizer gone screwy?

Hey all,

Well, since the update to 7.6.1 the Jelly visualizer seems to have gone a bit funny. It looks like its not rendering properly, with big sections of the black back drop gone. The actual visualization bit is ok - its just the black backdrop that has vanished..

Any ideas? I tried it on both monitors and full screen / windowed etc...

as for people wondering about ringtones, i updated and plugged my iphone in, still got my ringtones and they're working. I used the Audacity/iTunes conversion/manual format change method for all my ringtones..so thats still clear..

Well get use to the new federal tax rules... The government wants a piece of that pie, so you will soon either have to account for the portion that you actually work with your ISP, or your company will only put a monthly portion in your check.

stupid taxes...
