Alright enough of this waiting crap, someone get Maxime Veron on the phone and let him know that "a few hours" have passed and we're okay with getting 7.7 now....and we'd like 2.0 to be included....and the App store better be open.

Seconded

well....itunes 7.7 isnt out yet. so i guess itll be released the same time mobile me is on.....and that could be anytime within the next 6 hours....

Who knows....was that announcement ever even official about iTunes or did someone just take that guys name and slap it on a fake announcement and send it around to the blogs?

I wonder what time within this 6 hour window they are hoping to launch? An hour in and we got nothing...I really figured we'd have iTunes hours ago.

I wasnt sure if I even wanted to sign up for mobileme, but all this anticipation for everything had me reading and now I definitely want it.

I was going to try .Mac a month ago as a trial, but somehow I entered my CC information and bought the service instead. I now have ended up not only using the service, but have purchased 20GB additional space (for 30GB total) and have backed up my Documents to it!

It's addicting how elegant it is to use.

Have the Terms and Conditions for the App Store always been up, or is this new?

updated mac but not pc

Funny - I updated my iTunes to version 7.7 this morning at home on my MacBook Pro. I was even able to browse the new App Store thanks to the links provided on MacRumors.com. (I couldn't find a direct link on the main screen of the Music Store within iTunes.) For example, as hoped and kinda expected, AIM is a free download. And so far, no sign of "iPhone 3G only" notices on the software, though I'm sure there will be some programs that will only work on a 3G phone (ones that use GPS, for example).

But when I got to work, I tried to update my iTunes on my pc and nothing happened. I used both Apple Software Update and also checked for updates within iTunes itself. Nada. I thought the MacRumors site mentioned it was available for Windows as well.

Interesting...

update!

OK - I just tried something in my Windows iTunes. I opened the iTunes Store and did a search for AIM and it came back with a bunch of song hits. But at the top it had a message "To purchase applications, upgrade to the latest version of iTunes." And there was a link to Download. I clicked on that and it brought me to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ where I can download version 7.7, which I am doing as I type.

For those who already have 7.7 who want to see the App Store, do a search for AIM or for a program you know they have and you'll back into the App Store.

further update!

OK - Apple just tricked me. While their download page clearly said version 7.7 and even talked about the new features, after downloading and installing, I still have version 7.6.2.9. Nothing to update in the Apple Softare Update and iTunes tells me I have the latest version when I check for updates. So, the Windows version of 7.7 is still not available, at least for me.
