On both my mini and 5G I keep getting a "cannot update ipod, file is in use" dialog box. But the software window says the ipods are up to date, so I'm not sure what's going on.
I had this problem on mine and ended up having to do a restore before it would recognize that the iPod needed to be updated.

Make sure you sync first. If you use your iPod in manaul mode (not set to auto sync), then you'll need to put all of your songs back on it after the restore.

Just a quick mention really. The UK iTS has been updated. Those who noticed; when Apple updated the store, they took off a few things too (by accident I guess) These are the Pixar Short Films, and Music Video Tabs on the left hand side. Well, they're back.:)

Well, accepted the hassle of restoring the ipod. The first file I resynched gave me the same 'file in use' error. sigh

iTunes 7 fixed the shared playlist/monitor sleep bug from previous versions?

It would seem so. And for that, I'm really excited. :) When sharing playlists from a network, the server computer no longer turns on the monitor if it was sleeping previously.

I started using the artwork view today and I love it. Not Cover Flow, but the other one. The one with the track titles by the cover art. It looks great. I'm a big fan of the iTunes 7 interface.

701

Anyone else had problems with the 7.0.1? After I installed mine and closed out itunes, there was some file corruption somewhere. It tried loading my library and then told me it couldn't open it. Then once it finallly did load, over half of my songs didn't display, so about 11,000 songs.

I eventually fixed it...by reloading all 20k songs. All my settings were gone though...playlists, etc.

Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.

I think the solution to your video issue is to set iTunes to play videos in the main screen and not on a separate window, this will allow you to switch between album art window and a bigger window with the video still playing in all cases BUT the trade off is when your playing your playlist the video will not come on in a separate window but rather remain in the album art window you have to click it to go bigger. The video however will play in the album art area regardless.
Nope, doesn't help. I never use the separate window preference anyway; I want them playing full screen unless I specifically tell it to shrink. But what happens if I use the technique given above is that (a) I'd miss being able to see all the music vids, since I'm likely to be several feet away from my computer when they come on in the small screen, and (b) when I click on a small screen vid, it enlarges to separate-screen mode (not full screen), and the separate screen statics to white as soon as I do anything else on the desktop.

Thanks for the suggestion, though. I'm going to break a separate thread out for dealing with video problems later.

i must say i'm not all that impressed with itunes 7. i like it and all, but i'm not sure if i like it that much better than itunes 6
