This doesn't seem feasible to me. If I understand correctly, transcoding would code a lossless track to lossy when syning to the iPod, wouldn't this take forever to sync your iPod?

It seems like you would HAVE to have 2 libraries to make sure syning with iPod isn't too time consuming.

Transcoding isn't the solution for this problem at the moment, maybe one day when it can do the encoding it seconds but we're some way away from that still. But there are other ways the problem could be solved to avoid the need for two libraries.

The best option would be for there to be a way to keep multiple versions of a song, each encoded differently but in effect sharing the library entry which would include details of each version. Then you just have an option to say which one to use; Apple Lossless in iTunes and AAC on iPods for example.

Manual management could allow something like that, the lossy version would be stored on the iPod and the lossless on the computer, but it would presumably have to be re-encoded if you ever removed the song from the iPod and put it back on at later time. How does the shuffle do it?

iTunes DJ

So is iTunes DJ the old shuffle feature re-named or does it add something new???

Me Too!

Finding there is a major lag with iTunes cover flow view and two-fingered scroll. Once I start scrolling and stop it takes a few swipes to start moving again. And trying to do a slow incremental scroll is complete fail.

I'm getting this too. Gonna try a reinstall from installer .DMG file later tonight. Hopefully this corrects it.

Multitouch

Is it just me or does the iTunes store now have MULTITOUCH SUPPORT?
I think this is a new, unlisted feature, no? I don't remember it working in the previous version.

I had this same problem this morning. Plug in your iPhone and go to the info tab (iPhone sync section) and check replace calendar info on this phone with info from this computer. It worked for me.

Did that and I no longer get the error...

But I lost everything In my calendar

Are you swiping from left to right on the pad? I thought I had this problem too till i realised that I should be swiping up and down (like scrolling a page). Works fine now.

Yes it has! :D

Yea, I hope it runs better than the last one. For some reason iTunes are real slow on my pc.

Yeah, left to right since that was how it worked before. Seems odd they would have changed cover flow scroll to up and down. Anyway, i'll try it tonight and see if it works. Thanks.

Tried it and it works! Odd thing is, now the side to side scrolling seems to be working again. Maybe just needed a restart? Weird.

Edit: Actually, it still has problems scrolling side to side, just not as "sticky" as before. I still feels abnormally sluggish and a tad unresponsive vs vertical scrolling. Sounds like this is a real bug. Hope it's fixed soon.

So I've gone from a rock solid iTunes, to the latest iTunes and although it seems OK for most stuff, it just crashes when updating and attempting to download the latest Podcasts I have subscribed to.

I've had to disable automatic updating and found that the only way to update the Podcasts is to update each stream individually (56 of them).

If I hit the 'refresh' button, it just crashes!

I'm having the same problem, i even deleted it then re downloaded it instead of updating and it still happens when i try to download new podcasts. Let me know if you figure something out.

I tried to restore my old one with time machine, but it wouldn't let me because the playlist file was made with a newer version, anything I can do about that?

I can't seem to get AutoFill for my iPod Photo v. 1.2.1

I set it for to manually manage music, synced it, and nothing. tried to disconnect and reconnect....nothing.

Looked through all the tabs...nada.

Any ideas?

Don't know whether this has been mentioned yet, but one thing I've missed from party shuffle iTunes DJ is the ability to use the currently playing song as the first in a new party shuffle without a break.

It's a good update.

Not sure about the request a song via remote thing though. Even if everyone at your party has an iPhone, it's still a bit lame imho

Open up the Music playlist on your iPod (click the triangle next to its name to expand the list).

Down at the bottom of the window.

You should see something like this:

Enjoy.

that's awesome, does it sync playounts and such back to my mac? :)

The iTunes icon in my dock doesn't even bounce anymore, it jumps up alright but it starts before it goes down again. Sort of making this the first ever speed improvement I really enjoy (thank you WebKit team).

i think Onyx can do it. not 100% sure though:confused:
Thanks. But I needed a solution for Windows. But someone else later said it only happens on the currently selected track now, so it's not so bad.

What would be nice is if I can change the arrow's behavior. Like if I'm listening to a track and decide I'd like to play more of the album, click the arrow next to an album title, instead of going to the iTMS is goes to my library and displays all the tracks for that album only. Or click the arrow next to the artist's name, and it pulls up just that artist's listings.

That would be useful.
