You need a STRONG password, especially if you carry a decent balance on your iTunes account as I do. That is, unless you want your login credentials to get sold on some fraudulent Chinese site.

How did they "guess" the password?!?! They have TONNNNSSSSSSSSSS of hacked username/password on a Chinese auction site. Buyers are actually leaving comments saying "thanks, it worked. Great service!"

But it sounds like no one was hacked because of a credit card?

It seems as if only people who already had a balance from like giftcards had their accounts drained of the giftcard?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Add another to the victim list. Changed all my account information. Drained my gift card balance. I don't understand it, I'm always very careful with my accounts and have done nothing to put myself at risk.

I am so sorry to hear that. Make sure that you contact iTunes and advise them of the fraudulent charges. There is a good chance you will be credited back your balance on your gift card. Good luck:)

i use amex. and if anything like this were to happen i just call them and they are on my side and take care of it all and credit me back my money. they deal with with any fraudulent charges .

And my bank card with capitalone bank also. i even had someone withdraw 400 bucks twice from my checking account from an atm 300 miles away in NYC. noticed it 2 days later. i called and told them it was not me, i had not been in NYC in over a year. How they hell they stuck a card into an ATM and withdrew money from my account is beyond me. It was an actual cash withdrawl from a ATM machine. The C/S i spoke to was even shocked when i explained i had never lost my ATM card. And she asked how would they know your pin? I said i don't know anything about this just that i am missing 800 bucks. But they put the money back in my account temporarily while they investigated it. Sent me an affidavit to sign saying i did not withdraw the money and that was the end of that.

So if you deal with a good bank and have a good credit record they should be on your side.

I was hacked on Jan 29th and my City, State were changed to Towson MD. This is the only account I have that has been hacked and 99% of the time I enter my password from my iPod when I purchase apps. I rarely use the computer to log into my iTunes account. As a matter of fact, the last time I logged into my account from my PC was in November to enter my gift card information. I have been seeing a lot of posts with people's City & State being changed to Towson MD. I have to wonder if there is an app/game that I installed that was able to grab my iTunes password. I hope that Apple takes a look at all the people that have been hacked with this Towson MD thing and look for common apps that have been downloaded/installed in the few days prior to the account information changing.

Make sure that you review your iTunes account such as how many computers are authorized. When my account was hacked, I noticed that 4 computers were authorized when there should have been only 2.
