Yep there are alternatives but I'll have to admit to not using them. Songbird looks nice but is still only in beta.ronmaverick88 said:i'm sick of itunes messing up my music collections and just tossing everything everywhere. Is there a good alternative to this program on the mac?
if possible do any other programs sync with the ipod touch as well?
Hint: This isn't what the OP asked for.Learn how to use iTunes. I've used it for 7+ years with no issue. Hint.... let iTunes organize your files.
Good grief. The OP is not attacking your choice of media player. Some people just prefer to manage their music collection manually. You obviously don't.What is wrong with iTunes I refuse to give any alternative unless you give a better reason than it messes my music collection, It works wonders for me.
wow.. pat on the back for this guy!
Why is iTunes doing that? I've used iTunes for years, and that's never happened to me.i'm sick of itunes messing up my music collections and just tossing everything everywhere.

Please don't threadcrap. The OP had a very simple request - what are the alternatives to iTunes that allow you to manually manage your music?. There's alternatives out there and a thread discussing people's impressions and experience would be interesting.I'll give you a gold star if you can learn how to use the easiest music management software known to man.![]()

i dont know for some reason when i have multiple albums in my lib it just separates the tracks instead of keeping them together under one album. I've converted the tags and everything. i know how to edit music and all so i know how this is supposed to work.

How are you using it?
Man, you guys are crap at answering questions.
It was a well-deserved slight. A very simple question was asked and the majority of posters have struggled to address it at all. Hopefully silvarbullet1 sticks around and shares their experience. Higher content posts are always welcome.First post on MacRumours and you insult us, Good one

Why on earth not? I don't owe Apple anything and if an alternative program better suits a user then that's great for them. I'd personally hate to be in the situation where I've only one proprietary option to use my music. Why should Mac users steer people or help steer people away from iTunes?
What you're really saying here is that there's no need for an alternative for what you do. This does not apply to everyone. Some people don't want all their music in itunes-compatible formats, some people like to manage their own library folders manually, some people use non-apple music players that don't sync with itunes, some people share their library over multiple computer formats (linux?). The list goes on..... There is plenty of need for alternative, even just for the sake of competition. If iTunes is used correctly it is a very powerful application. I have not used windows for years so, I do not know how it works over there. But, in the Mac world, there is no need for an alternative.
