16GB is way too small for storing movies. Maybe, compressed songs? 200.

I have been in Japanese Store quite a long time. But, maybe support staff only know to speak Japanese. I don't know.

A few things I will consider before "moving myself to the cloud".

Not every corner of the earth have cheap and reliable internet access. Plus there are countries blocking them.

Cloud music library literally is not "really unlimited", especially for Japanese songs. So many of them are "limited edition", or packed within a huge expensive BD Box. Those, you just cannot find them on Apple music at all. And, if publisher changes mind, and pull the plug, you will need to find other ways to listen to your favourite again.

Same as Documents. Putting everything in the cloud is not a good choice. And what if cloud service provider is offline? Or a file sharing service is ordered to shut down by local govt?

Well, sometimes you just want to kill that boring 5 hrs train trip.

Not every corner of the earth have cheap and reliable internet access.- If I lived in a country or location where Internet is not cheap or reliable I would buy a 128GB iPod touch (cheaper than 16GB iphone) and carry a fliphone for phone calls and use WiFi whenever it was available.

Cloud music library literally is not "really unlimited" - I think you misunderstood my statement. Music streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music have an almost unlimited catalog of songs that users can listen to. Is Spotify different in Japan?

I've been using both for years now and have yet to experience this. I'm not sure why you think it's not a good choice?

I read this and can't help but think that this is more so an issue with how iTunes handles movie rentals than the actual storage. I mean, I could have my 64 gb phone filled too. Or my 128. Or whatever storage option comes to me tomorrow.

Apple Music and Spotify has very limited amount of Japanese and Chinese songs.

Plus you need Japanese/Chinese credit card to sign up for Apple Music. Which is impossible to get without Japanese citizen or PR status.

For people like me, mainly listen o Chinese, Japanese song and living in Canada, there is no good streaming service. I mainly purchase digital version of music then transfer to my iPhone or ended up pirating the music.

Lots of times, I wanted to purchase music, but the region restriction and unable to use Canadaian credit card just huge for me.[/QUOTE]

Google play music is free and allows you to upload 50,000 songs. You'd need to check if it's available wherever you are located but I think 50,000 songs is plenty for most people.

Same here, although I just listen to Japanese music a lot.
Region restriction and language problem prevents me from buying songs easily.

But you need to upload right? Then you first need to have something to upload.

The place you live and your hobby mainly determines your use of Internet.

For me, Apple Music and Spotify are good services to discover "Latin language based music" but not "Asian music".

And, even if they are stable enough, who knows when they will pull the plug after three years or so? I just have seen so many such services shutting down and you end up storing your data on a cheap HDD.

Yes google music requires you upload something. I was merely trying to offer you a solution for your streaming dilemma. The title of the thread and the entire point of it, I thought, revolved around the 16gb phone not being enough and had nothing to do with an inability to find purchasable content.

I'm going on a limb here and assuming you could find hard copies of things and import them, concert hard copies to digital, and upload from there. I'm Hungarian, living in the US, and if I can handle those listening needs, both Chinese and Japan music should be infinitely easier to come by.

At the end of the day it seems like you have some agenda in proving to us (or yourself) that 16gb isn't enough and to buy higher storage capacities. I won't argue for or against this. I was just trying to give you a free option for cloud music storage.

I have uploaded all my music through Google Play Music. The only problem is I switch between iOS and Android a lot. I have 4 iPhones and 5 other Android phone. Managing devices under Google account is pain in the butt. You can removed and add devices unlimited times before, but you can only do five times a year. But I have Goolge music installed my my iPhone anyway.

I brought 64GB iPhone 5 a month ago for 299 (refurbished, everything like new) and planning to use as music player and back up phone. My main devices currently is iPhone SE 64GB and Motorla Moto X Play with 120GB SD card.

The google play music free subscription doesn't require any sort of device triggering devices, as far as I'm aware. Of course, I am in the US, so that might effect you? Again, the free and paid for options also may be different.

Here is from Google support. Basically it covers 10 devices, including iPods. For people like me owning bunch of devices and switch between devices, this is huge unconvince. I got not lot people have more than 10 devices. I have more than 10 phones, 3 iPods, 4 iPads.

I am not sure what gonna happen to Google Play Music radio, I would assume Google Play Music radio does not have devices limit.

It would be great Google allowes unlimited de-authorization, but Google only allows 4 time a year. Pretty sad :(
