iTunes App Store charged for free application enquiry

According to my receipt I am only charged for the applications I bought. So god knows why they have taken £1.58 again for another card authorization check.

I am going to phone apple and get to the bottom of this because the reply I got from them from email was hopeless.

So you reckon its because I have only used iTunes to download those apps and I rarely use iTunes that they are doing card authorization all the time?

Yes, I think since there has not been an actual purchase initiated(only free items) that it is reauthorizing every time. iTunes can be quite "buggy" when it comes to issues like this.

Just buy one song and see if it works. Probably save the hassle of talking to the bank and Apple. Apple doesn't really have anybody to talk to on the phone about iTunes issues either.

You know... inflation has kinda devalued £1.58 over the years... I really don't think that these extra checks should be causing you grief. You registered, it checked. You got a new device and therefore changed your circumstances, it checked. You bought something and therefore changed your customer status (now active rather than just registered), it checked. It's not even a real charge. I would suggest finding a new hobby.

I suggest using a real credit card that does not show these test charges or you will go crazy your entire life.

The Applications I downloaded weren't free, I had to purchase them.

I got another reply from iTunes telling me that they do a card authorization check every time I purchase anything on iTunes and the AppStore.

So really it could be something to do with the type of card I am using. I have no problems using my card in retails stores and shops though. It just seems to be online stores especially Apple and iTunes that are the problem.

UPDATE: I have the problem sorted. I got the £1.58 put back in my account so it looks like it was another card authorization check.

I wish Apple iTunes would state this in their small print to avoid all confusion.
