I think he was having a laugh.

Yeah, I thought so to. First laugh of the day -- which is a tough thing to do considering the lousy air conditioning at work's just died...

*drip*

Anyway, looking forward to getting home and buying from the iTMS. I'd try it at work, but iTunes doesn't like the company's web proxy... :(

Well that does not count me, as at €1.19 a song I would happily part with money - that is around 79p

Then again 99% of my iTunes library is from my own CDs, the odd few are old songs that I only have on tape or LP - I intend to buy these on ITMS when available.

I am still not sure I would buy albums on ITMS, depends on the price as I can buy most chart CDs at £8.99 from www.cd-wow.com with free shipping. I would not pay similar or more for a download compared to a CD, as you get lower quality audio (compared to a CDDA audio) and no artwork or physical CD.

As for singles, or odd old songs I like I would 100% happily buy on ITMS.

same here pretty much. my credit card is at the ready tho' to buy a whole heap of odd tracks from when i was younger but didn't have the albums - a lot of predictable classics by artists i wouldn't buy whole albums by, or odd tracks from the 80s that i can buy individually without having to buy any of those compilation albums with 70% crap on them.

whole albums are another thing tho for the reasons you say - but i can see me reading reviews of stuff, and maybe downloading odd tracks off albums that sound as tho' i might like them tho' - then maybe go out and buy the cd.

i've tried the whole kazzaa thing, and just got fed up with it to be honest, and since having the PB, itunes and the ipod i've been buying cds like i haven't for many years. i think that while kids will still go down the kazzaa route, i think there's a huge market for people in their 30s and 40s who have the disposable income, who are chomping at the bit for something like ITMS.

Am I looking to much into things when I look at the Apple RSS-feed "iTunes 25 Just Added Albums" (edit, link: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wpa/MRSS/justadded/limit=25/rss.xml), and I'm seeing a bunch of Swedish, German and Italian albums (along with a bunch of US) just added?

BTW... Previously, going on holiday to the US *did* enable you to buy tunes from iTMS. All you had to do was buy a gift certificate and come up with a fake US address. Worked for me!

Barely hours to go and I am buzzing. But I'm so busy at work this will be my only post before I miss the event.

So the last thing I want is for it to be a predictable turn of events with nothing other than the iTMS Euro-style being announced because I don't want to be let down when I eventually find out. iPods g4 would be nice, but I think he'll save that for WWDC.

It's like Christmas ... only much better ... and without the relatives. ;)

11:00am in London is what time in California?

It's late, I'm tired... and yes, I'm lazy. ;)

Erm at the time of writing this post... 25 minutes away.

Unfortunatly i'm due at work at 11 so i'll miss the show :(

it might be a huge dissapointment to you guys over in the US, but over here *nothing other* than ITMS Europe is *huge* and great news! :D

and having just bought an iPod i don't there's any need whatsoever for new ones right now...

Iain :D

Think he would be interested in an iTMS gift voucher to help 'speed things along' ? :)

I was supposed to set off for work 5 minutes ago but I'm giving this untill 11:30 to see if I can catch it come online

don't do that - it'll only come online the minute you step out the door - you know that!

i'm stuck at work til 4, so hopefully it'll be up by then. just hope they keep it down to 89p....

This german site seems to be doing some live coverage:

http://www.macnews.de/

Babelfish translation says:
Soon geht's loosely: Large crush, many press people, some stand. Now music from the Sixties runs. Handys are to be switched off.

iTunes Music net curtain comes: As expects: Germany, France and UK!! 62 per cent of the total market for music, 22 per cent global.

Spain ?

I am English but now live in Barcelona.

When do you think it will be available in Spain ?

I have a UK bank account and billing address i can use. Can i still shop in the ITMS UK store ?

Does the ITMS know that i am in Spain and not in the UK ?

forgive me if these are stupid questions :)

As long as you have a UK billing address I think you'll be okay!

Suerte!
