iPhone X iTunes movie 3x size of mac version

Hi,

I downloaded a movie on Macbook 12" and iPhone X and the download size on the X is 3x.

mac: 6.6 gb
x: 23 gb

any reason why this is happening and is there a way to lower the file size on the x download?

Is the X version a 4K file?

I am not sure if it is a 4k file? I just downloaded it from itunes--there was no options provided. I think only newest apple tv can download 4k as it stated that on the bladerunner 2049 screen.

Probably because the X can play HDR and the Mac can't hence if your settings are set to best quality, iTunes will download the best quality media (which in this case also means the largest sized one).

I have to say the difference between watching it on Macbook 12, NEC PA271W and the X is HUGE. Watching 2049 on the X is an amazing experience: the color saturation and the dynamic range is astonishing. I just wish i had a 50" version of the X.

You can select between SD and HD in iTunes. However, for streaming not sure you can.
