I only have a handful of songs that need upgrading so I probably will. Since the amount is so small, I'm not in a big rush to get it done.

Well I might just have to bite the bullet and upgrade my songs as stealing them all is too much of a pain and quality is iffy.
For those who can't tell the difference between 128kbs and 256kbs I both pity you and envy you, there is a huge difference.
Also I might have to switch from my iPhone to a Palm Pre or something as I have an unlocked iPhone on Unicel (which is being bought out by Verizon) and their is no other GSM carrier around here. I mean I could get a phone and an iPod touch but I rather have it all in one device, so I would need DRM free music.

Best Buy has 10% off iTunes cards this week btw ;), so I figure I will pick some up to upgrade my library.

I'm sick of paying extra for music I already own. I will upgrade only if I really need it or if I becomes free.

I'v already started buying most of my songs from Amazon where I get DRM free MP3 to begin with. Yah I know, AAC is superior, blah, blah.

And yes, I'm tired of paying for songs I've already bought. I'll probably give in and upgrade to plus, but for me, it's a non-trivial amount $$'s for the large number of AAC/DRM songs I've already bought from iTunes.

im gonna upgrade probaly since now i can put the songs now on ps3 and im looking to get a psp too right now its 16 bucks to upgrade my libray i may upgrade that before it goes up again i may upgrade in small doses

Buying from Amazon now that (almost) all songs from iTunes are DRM free and 256kbs does not really matter anymore just before the switch happened. I am glad I only purchased iTunes plus songs for the last year, otherwise the upgrade would really suck.
Just paid $25 to upgrade about half my library, am I pissed about it? Yes. Did it need to get done? Yes.

Not until they offer a way to upgrade parts of the library, and not just all of it. There's stuff it wants me to pay to upgrade that I don't even have in my library any more.

I guess there will be an option as soon as enough people have upgraded their complete library and Apple already made enough $$$ from them.
