Apple's iTunes Music Store has gone down and has been replaced with a black screen with the simple words:
Apple is widely expected to deliver an iTunes Movie service today at their media event.
Note that it doesn't say "The iTunes Music Store is being updated." That's a pretty clear sign to me that not only are they going to add movies, it's also now just going to be the iTunes Store.
Will we be able to watch this event live? How will coverage (if there will be any) be brought to us?

I hope that this movie store will be as successful as the music store; I wouldn't want Apple to be in trouble.
It just seems as though they are going to have to provide a large amount of bandwidth, and I'm not so sure how easy this will be on today's technology.

If the iTunes Music Store is going to be called the iTunes Store (iTMS > iTS?) then shouldn't the name iTunes change as well to coincide with the change in available media?tvguru said:
For conformation the Canadian site is down. First I had the check connection mentioned above, then I tried again and got the message.
why would they take the uk store down if there were not going to add movies for us here!! woohoo..
I can't imagine why Apple would have an event like this if there was going to be only Disney content available.
