Although I was hoping for a wide-screen iPod, this event has not disappointed me. I have a 2nd generation iPod and it sounds like now is a great time to upgrade to the 5th generation. The $50 price cut really helps!

The set-top box was a real suprise to me, the price point is perfect!

So the "one more thing" was some guy called John coming onto the stage on some fancy platform? Wow.

299??

At 99 it sounded good, 199 a little too much, but 299??? Wow.

If it's a full blown Mac, only a lower capacity one designed as a set-top box it doesn't sound bad.

It's also $100 cheaper than the Amiga CDTV.

I thought I'd add that. I have no idea why. I mean, like, ok, the CDTV was to the A500 what this is to the Mac mini, but that was before video streaming and decent optical media-based movies, so it's kind of useless.

Anyway, it seems reasonable to me. It's half the price of Sony's PS3 which is arguably its nearest competitor (both are pushing next generation media, both are supposedly full computers. Apple could even be planning a secret push to get some games developped for it by January.)
