In a way that sort of stinks. Just because it would be really difficult to find that many songs. Personally I'd just eBay it since you probably have to pay income tax on that $10,000 prize.

Well, no hardware but when I put a gift card into iTunes it doesn't tell me I can only use it for songs but not apps. As long as iTunes can download it, I can use a gift card to pay for it.

I'd imagine this prize would work the same way.

I have no idea if it's true for this Apple prize, but MANY other contests give you the choice of picking the "equivalent cash prize." So if you win a $60,000 car but don't have the money to pay taxes on it you can just take $60,000 in cash instead and pay taxes from that. I know all the game shows work that way. I'm betting most of those Price is Right winners don't actually take an RV home with them.

I don't know if Apple would offer that here, but there's probably a good chance. Heck, they might even have to offer it, legally. I really don't know. I just know it's often done that way.

You don't get a $10,000 gift card, Im willing to bet its just credited to your account.. After taxes of course
 
Bah, it did a million overnight, then a million this morning, then I check about 30 minutes ago and there was still 3 million to go, and I wanted to get an album. Too slow.... not a moment later, it's done. Should've bought the album sooner. Oh well, I can buy it now anyway. :/
 
You're kidding! I checked yesterday and there was approximately 7,000,000 downloads left to reach 10,000,000,000. Insanity!
 
I bought an album of 15 songs when I saw the counter hit 9,999,999,xxx

Unfortunately, it took iTunes about 6 seconds before it said it was processing and the counter was replaced saying the 10,000,000,000 had been downloaded before the processing message appeared.

Oh well, I'm enjoying my second Disturbed album now... IDK if shelling out $3 extra for the bonus track was worth it...

Edit: It would be nice if I could see which number I was.

but what would you buy with 10,000 from itunes. It's not like its a gift card to the Apple Store.

Apple-skewed numbers like how sheeple *LTD* says the iPhone is the #1 worldwide phone because #1 and #2 don't count. It's all theatrics here.

Take it with a grain of salt. They probably count browsers as inevitable buyers and you can't forget the-check-is-in-the-mail buyers.

For a moment there I was thinking about a 10 billion dollars Apple gift card and was wondering how many Macs and iPods that would buy. :D

Can you imagine the Insanity that would happen if Apple did a $10,000 Apple Store gift Card (Meaning you can BUY ANYTHING FROM APPLE!!:eek: ANYTHING!!!:eek: )

I bet a contest like that would make national news.

It would be equivlent to Willy Wonka's Golden ticket :)
