Music ranting (I know how to spell)

The cloud is still a myth, didn't you hear?

I'm sure that many middle-aged people will find it extremely useful and liberating to share that they are listening to Coldplay and Jack Johnson, but I am terrified the idea of having this crap, low-level culture competition going.

Yes, I listen to some embarrassing music that I wouldn't have even considered a few years ago, but I don't need the option to share it with others. Also, I don't want to feel pressured in any way when I'm listening to my music.

EDIT:

Sorry, I just realised that I already deleted myself from Facebook and I don't use iTunes. I think I'll be fine. Back to Spotify (with Facebook and Twitter share option unused by me).

Moving to a website is a good move. So many times some people sent iTunes links to someone only having to resend them an Amazon link because they didn't have iTunes installed and didn't want to install it.

I honestly think they need to rip the iPhone out of iTunes.

They should come out with a program called "iOS Hub" or something. It'll look just like the iPhone sync screen in iTunes. It'll deal with apps, ringtones, iPhones, iPods, iPads, and Apple TV.

THAT program will talk with iTunes to get music and movies, but at that point iTunes and iPhoto are equal. They're media programs that provide media to the iOS syncing program.

"iOS Hub" would contain the app store and iTunes would keep the music, TV, and movies store.

I'd like that too but remember: Apple is still a business, their first goal is to make money.

Having every user of an iPhone, iPod and iPad tied into iTunes is good for the bottom line. Once you remove the sync portion to a separate app, iTunes becomes optional and the whole iTunes eco-system falls apart.

Exactly and the only way this could work is if they work on the new program to be comparable with the iTunes standards.

I personally think and hope for a new itunes this year. Full 64 bit. Bulit from the ground up.

apple needs to by redchair software and incorporate their software into itunes to reduce the footprint. i can't stand to even load it up, and now that i don't need to use it, i hardly do, i just drag and drop folders i want on my memory card

has the iTunes Store on the web stopped redirecting you to the store in iTunes? or is it just me? this might indicate that they are moving to the web. sorry if this has already been discussed.

Well if Apple removed the crap from the app store and other crap on the iTunes store it may be a bit better.

Theres no need for fart apps. I mean, what are we in middle school? I thought we are teaching kids not to goof around?

Haha, that's the most stupid stastic that I've seen lately. Honestly; what a horrible article to base on that kind of statistic. I'm disappointed in Wired. Anyone with a brain realizes that traffic amount isn't proportional to popularity! Video clips consume a liiittle bit more traffic than browsing web sites. Same with, uh, piracy, or what they prefer to call "P2P" there. Some people pirate terabytes of data per year, and of course, taking the web browsing into comparison isn't even a blip on that user's radar. Despite potentially being a heavy web user.

No, let's look at time instead of traffic instead. Active time used browsing sites. YouTube usage will plummet, and social sites will likely skyrocket.

Heck, it's even stupid in yet a regard. Becuase people don't use P2P and stare at a BitTorrent client all day, but browse the web meanwhile, in paralllell. That statistic doesn't account for this either. It treats everything as a choice.
