All this social networking stuff is so boring. I have no interest at all in sharing my musical tastes or any other personal info for that matter with anyone unless I really know them (in the flesh as they say).

I agree. Just gimme a cloud interface to store a copy of my iTunes library!

iTunes X is Coming. I expect Full Cocoa and Updates UI.

Maybe the store moves out of iTunes. I think that would be great. Keep iTunes just as a player.

I still love to store my music locally (not in the cloud), but would love to have a web interface to browsing in the iTunes store. I am really bothered by the fact that I can only see one window in the iTunes store at a time. If the iTunes store had a web-based interface, then I could open several windows at once, instead of clicking back-and-forth between the pages of the iTunes store.

I also really dislike how the iTunes store doesn't remember that I like to sort chronologically (I think it sorts by popularity by default), so I have to constantly change this option, which is a real pain when flipping back-and-forth through the store.

So I am definitely in favor of a web-based iTunes store. That's for sure!!! :)

As usual, a rumor is floated and people start jumping to negative conclusions. Don't you think Apple would have thought about what happens if you have no Net connection? Is this really news to them?

If there is a Web- or cloud-based future for iTunes, you can be sure you will still have the option to store everything locally too. The iPod line gives you choice. Apple won't change that.

The thing is Steve Jobs said we don't have Apple selling Blu-ray drives because everyone streams everything now. He doesn't seem to have that great a problem disregarding customers without big fat & fast internet connections.

Finally. I've been saying iTunes needs to be social for months now. Hopefully you can follow friends like Facebook bit also people you don't know like DJs or artists like on Twitter.

Chest surely ;)

Both vest and chest are in common use with identical meaning.

I look forward to network based syncing of devices and moving the iTunes store out of the app... I'd also love to see camera roll management move into the app (ie delete phtos on my phone from iTunes and select which individual Photos to sync not just one folder

Anyway I see one of two things happening, first what I want:
- cloud syncing over LAN and WAN
- streaming from personal library over LAN and WAN (this is preferable to me than me putting my music on Apple's severs see reason below)
- iTunes store moves out of iTunes and is purely web based
- photos can be manged on devices from app

This is where I get super annoyed by Apples walled garden approach as this is what I think Apple will offer:
- cloud based sync of music/video/apps purchased through the iTunes store.
- cloud based streaming of music/video purchased through the iTunes store
- Continued MobileMe based sync of PDA data (contacts/notes/cal) but still no LAN or WAN sync.

I want access to MY library from MY device over MY VPN.

I should add one of the reasons I think Apple will do it this way is they'd feel safer streaming content without renegotiating contracts with content providers if they are certain you bought the content.... oh end it'd be a bonus incentive to buy from Apple instead of Amazon and all the other digital music retailers.

Dear Apple,

please remove the iTunes store out of the iTunes application. Every time I accidentally click on it, it just locks the whole app for a minute. The iTunes store is also a pain to navigate because I can't enter links, search for text, etc.

Thanks.

Clicking that will make it get outta your way for now.

I honestly think they need to rip the iPhone out of iTunes.

They should come out with a program called "iOS Hub" or something. It'll look just like the iPhone sync screen in iTunes. It'll deal with apps, ringtones, iPhones, iPods, iPads, and Apple TV.

THAT program will talk with iTunes to get music and movies, but at that point iTunes and iPhoto are equal. They're media programs that provide media to the iOS syncing program.

"iOS Hub" would contain the app store and iTunes would keep the music, TV, and movies store.

No need for a new app. Just shift it all into iSync (or at least the syncing part…maybe put the store on the web?).

The same thing happens to me.

Moving it to the web might get me to browse it more often. Then again I loathe paying for my media.

It if does, it might make itunes less of a resource hog as the "store" is not part of the application. iTunes may once return to the way it was back in its 1.x and 2.x days.

Actully I don't think iTunes became a resource hog untill the 5th or 6th version, or at least not until they added video support.

Eurgh.. I hate this social Integration. Accidently linked my Facebook to my Windows Live Messenger, not only did it add ALL of my Facebook friends to MSN, everytime I change my Windows Live 'Whats on your mind?' thing it also changes my Facebook status. And vica versa.

The thing is Steve Jobs said we don't have Apple selling Blu-ray drives because everyone streams everything now. He doesn't seem to have that great a problem disregarding customers without big fat & fast internet connections.

He said Blu-ray was a big bag of hurt, not that we have no need for discs because we are 100% with fast connections.

Now it is also true that Blu-ray is as good as dead because the future is for no discs at all, but we aren't there yet.

Steve knows very well that there are plenty of his customers without fast net connections. People love to assume the worst here. Let's wait for the facts and then pass judgment.

That web based iTunes is useless when it auto-opens iTunes even thought it is not supposed to.

I hate social integration.

+1

Social media is a waste of time to me. I personally don't need it, because I happen to have a great social life already, but it's fine for the wanna-be celebrities. Hey. To each his own.

What makes you think that by adding a 'streaming' option they'd remove the 'store locally' option of iPods?

It was Kenrik's mention of Pandora and his phrase "stream them anywhere at any time" that lead me to think he was suggesting the removal of storing one's purchased songs. When I read his post, I didn't feel he was suggesting the streaming would be an option but instead a new way of purchasing/consuming music.

I hope this has satisfactorily answered your question.
