iTunes is a bit sucky on Windows. Everytime I update, it gives me errors.

Other than that, it's a bit slow (and obviously more suited to a Mac than a PC) but I can deal with it. It works.

Ok i just did a jail break, i know this is the wrong thread but can i now access all my pictures and music without itunes?

You can but it won't be pretty. Apple renames all your music and folder names to random letters and numbers, making retrieving all you music manually a nightmare to say the least. Apple has you by the short ones and that's the way they want it.

Other than it being a resource hog on Windows, I've no complaints with iTunes. I on't understand how losing your contacts is even possible, what with syncing with windows contacts or MobileMe or even a Gmail Exchange account. It's so easy and simple.

I never liked itunes much at all but i just did what i had to in order to sync data. Now messing with it for a few years i have mastered easier ways sync and not get so bogged down. Once you know how to play the game it makes the experience better.

This. Maybe I find it ok since I've used it for 5+ years, when I got my first iPod, the second generation iPod Nano. iTunes definitely gets easier to use with time.

Damn straight. I hope to GOD it runs better on a Mac, 'cause it is pure junk on Windows. Every click initiates a 10 second wait and loading the app window from your iPad?... well, it's just to painful to remember...
I use it on a mac. It seems much better then when I had it on my work PC. The only time it really hangs is when I import a ripped movie. That's the only time it really hangs for a while for me.

iTunes in windows works like Excel in OSX. Crappy executions of otherwise good programs.

contacts on SIM card?

Why would you want to do that? Just wirelessly sync all your info with any one of dozens of Exchange or Exchange like services. Can even do it for free with gmail or similar.

And, I concur with others, windows sucks not iTunes, though certainly there is room for improvement even on a Mac.

I would love to have my contacts on my SIM. Only because my iPhone crapped out and I'm now on an old win mobile phone and can't use activesync on a mac. I am tempted to JB the busted iPhone (just the screen) so I can get my contacts onto my SIM.

Seriously, I'm beginning to think that the iTunes development team are some of the weakest programmers on Apple. It seems they are responsible also for the Mac App Store and it has exactly the same issues as iTunes, meaning it's slow, bloated and unintuitive. Just not good software, on any platform.

It started as a music player, then somebody decided that it would be cool if it could be used to sync music to iPods. Nothing wrong with that. Then someone decided that it would be nice to also sync apps to the iPhone. And have a store for buying them. And oh oh, it should have a social network!

So from what should've been just a music player/sync software turned into an everything but the kitchen sink bloat developed by people who seem to have a hard time even reading Apple's user interface design guidelines.
